Kathleen Marie LaVoy

Kathleen (Kate) LaVoy, born March 13, 1926, passed away at the age of 96 on May 7, 2022 when she was called home by her Lord and Savior. She was born the daughter of Elric and Ethel (LaVoy) Lanoue. They lived on a farm near Cottonwood, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Redeemer Church in Marshall, MN. She attended country school and then high school in Cottonwood, MN. On April 19th, 1944 she married Leo Blomme. Leo died on November 11, 1975. Leo and Kate had four children: Pat (and Craig) Roslien living in Minnetonka, MN; Elaine (and Jack who is deceased) Koch living in Mankato, MN; Ed (and Karen) Blomme living in Edina, MN; and Charlie (and Deb Schlichting) Blomme living in Edina, MN. There are eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Kate then married Jim LaVoy on January 13, 1979. Jim passed away on July 13, 2021. Kate is survived by four stepchildren: Becky (and Mike) Smart living in Indian Harbour Beach, FL; Bryan (and Debbie) LaVoy living in Menomonie, WI; Bill (and Liz) LaVoy living in Sioux Falls, SD; and James (and Carrie) LaVoy living in Olathe, KS. There are eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Kate was blessed to be married for 73 years between the two marriages. The blending of the two families provided her with great joy and even more love. Kate worked in the Marshall High School cafeteria for ten years and served as head cook for the last six years. She was a member of the Holy Redeemer Church in Marshall, Catholic Daughters, and American Legion Auxiliary. Kate very much enjoyed traveling to and being part of family gatherings. In retirement, she and Jim enjoyed spending winter months in Las Vegas for many years. Kate and Jim moved to the Minneapolis, MN area in January of 2021. This move allowed their family members to experience many visits and loving times with both of them. Kate will be remembered for her sewing, cooking and baking for family and friends. Kate's legacy is as a loving spouse, loving mother, loving grandmother, and loving great-grandmother. Her love touched many lives and she will be missed by many. The family would like to thank the caring and loving staff members who enriched Kate's and Jim's lives while they resided at Boulder Estates in Marshall, MN as well as at Deephaven Woods Senior Living in Deephaven, MN. Memorials preferred to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall, MN or to the charity of your choice. There will be a celebration of Kate's life and Mass on August 6 at the Deephaven Woods Senior Living Chapel in Deephaven, MN at 11:00 AM.
