Horgen Kathleen Ann It is with deep sadness and love that we announce the passing of Kathy Haugen Horgen, age 71, who passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025. Kathy was born on October 24, 1953, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was thoughtful, selfless, and always placed the needs of others above her own. Her warmth and compassion left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Kathy was a talented artist and writer, with a creative spirit that shone through in everything she did. She enjoyed a successful career as a desktop publisher and graphic designer for over 30 years. She had a deep love and appreciation for music she undeniably inherited from her Dad. He instilled a love of music in their home from a young age and taught her how to play the piano. One of her favorite artists was Jason Mraz-his music brought her joy, inspiration and comfort. She owned every album he ever released thanks to her brother Mike burning those onto CDs. A proud Minnesota Twins fan, Kathy loved baseball. If the Twins were on, you can bet she was watching them. But more than anything, she adored her family. She loved long chats, treasured time with her children, and found immense joy in being a grandmother. Her three grandchildren-Sloane, Waelynn, and Pacey-were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment with them. Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Robert Haugen Sr.; her mother, LaVerne Schack Haugen; and her brother, Robert Haugen Jr. She is survived by her husband, Steve Horgen; her son, Jared Horgen (Sara); her daughter, Kelli Diaz (Rob); her beloved grandchildren, Sloane (8), Waelynn (6), and Pacey (6), as well as countless friends and loved ones. Kathy's presence in our lives was a gift. Her love, laughter, creativity, and gentle spirit will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her-just like her favorite songs that still play on. We will always love you to the moon and back, Granna. Rest well. A service to celebrate Kathy's life will be held on 4/24/25 at Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Funeral Chapel in Crystal. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 and the service from 11:00-12:00. We invite all who knew her and loved her to join us for a luncheon at New Hope Bowl directly following the service.
