Karen Marie Moe

Moe, Karen Marie age 81 of Edina, passed peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease and went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2023. Survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Tom; and family, Laura Moe (Andrew Hiller); Michael Moe (Bonnie) - Maggie, Caroline & great-granddaughter, Raegan; Jamie Beck (Joe) - Joe III, Julia; Mark Moe (Carey) - Maddy, Jack, Cate; Jennie Coughlin (Bob) - Carter, Quinn, Kaiden, Cullen, Callie; Jackie Kramer (Steve) - Cole, Cade; Tommy Moe (Marisa) - Sienna, Mason, Ava. Preceded in death by her parents, William Otto and Hazel Pearl Jensen. Karen graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis, class of 1959 and attended Drake University in Iowa, where she was a proud Delta Gamma. She grew up as an only child and the only thing she wanted that she never had, was a sibling. She was a woman of strong faith, not one to read or refer to scripture, but, one that was known at Christ Presbyterian Church for the row she would weekly sit in on Sunday, alongside her husband. More importantly, was the way she lived and lead by example for the Lord. She was known for being authentic & genuine, kind, energetic, thoughtful, selfless, fiercely loyal, perpetually positive and always joyful. The offset of not having a sibling was she loved people, being around people, making friendships and helping and putting others needs before her own. Our home was always welcome to guests and she would welcome them with her beautiful smile and natural and seemingly effortless hospitality. She was known for having a way to consistently make the best meals with whatever she had in the refrigerator, but was best known for her homemade scratch Swedish pancakes, popovers and cheesecake. She would take simple staples like BLT's and grilled cheese and make them the most consistent and best you ever had. She was proud of her Swedish & Danish heritage and always made an effort to embrace and propel her relationships with her relatives. She would host them at our home and make an effort to stay connected throughout the years. She was known for never sitting down to watch TV and loved to be active. She had a club for everything and the common theme was people, bringing them together and having fun in the process. She loved to golf and play tennis and organized walking, biking, alpine and cross-country skiing clubs both locally and in destination locations. She saw herself and was most proud of being Tom's wife and lifelong partner. She was an incredible teammate to Tom and was always adventurous, supportive, willing to try new things and was game to do anything, as long as they were together. She was honored and took great pride in being a homemaker and Mom. She lived and instilled the values that matter the most to her children and never missed a game or event for her children or grandchildren (despite taking multiple pucks off the forehead). Those that knew her were fortunate and blessed and her legacy will continue by learning from and striving to live and lead like she did. Although optional, we invite people to wear some RED in order to honor her, since that was her favorite color. Funeral service 1 PM Monday, January 9, with visitation beginning at noon at Christ Presbyterian Church, W 70th St at Hwy 100, Edina. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery.
