June Ethel Melgaard

June was born to William and Ethel Speiser in Centerville, MN. They lived out in the country on a farm. June had a brother, Don and sister, Irene. June went to Centerville Elementary School by bus. She remembers her dad always out doing farm work and her mother always cooking and baking. She enjoyed living on the farm. Later her family moved to New Brighton, MN. June remembers New Brighton being more country than it is now. They lived in a small little house on 10th Street. Across the road from them were farms at that time, June was able to walk to New Brighton Elementary School. She attended there 2nd through 8th grade. June also attended White Bear High School for 9th through 12th grade. June graduated in 1947. June did a lot of babysitting and then rode bus from New Brighton, MN to St. Paul, MN to work at the Minnesota Church Home. June and her sister, Irene both worked at the home. June started dating Clarence and were married. June and Clarence first lived in New Brighton, MN and then later moved to St. Paul, MN. June got a job at Brown and Bigelow playing card department in St. Paul, MN. June and Clarence had their daughter, Renee in 1950 and son, Bill in 1955. June continued working at Brown and Bigelow for many more years. She became a Department Manager of the playing card dept. Her husband, Clarence "Les" worked at a small grocery store in the neighborhood where they resided. When they both retired, they moved to Forest Lake, MN. June loved being with her grandkids. June is preceded in death by husband, Clarence and special friend, Mil Dvorack. June is survived by daughter, Renee Melgaard and son, Bill (Diane); three grandchildren, Tami Folk, Steven (Jenny) Amunrud, II and Keith (Jen) Melgaard; great-grandchildren, Jaycee (Jonathan) Hoogeveen, Breonna Folk, Cooper Melgaard, Tony Domeier, Jodie Domeier and Bailey Domeier and great great-granddaughter; Erin June Hoogeveen. Funeral service Tuesday, December 6th at 11:00 AM (visitation 1 hour prior) at HOLCOMB-HENRY-BOOM-PURCELL FUNERAL HOME; 515 W. Hwy 96 at Mackubin, Shoreview. Private interment Rice Lake Methodist Cemetery, Lino Lakes.
