June Gamble

Gamble, June L. Rosencrans died peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. June was born on June 13, 1925 in Spokane, WA. She was the 1st of 7 children born to Maurice and Maidie Rosencrans. Following her birth in Spokane, they returned to northwestern North Dakota, where her dad farmed and mom taught school and raised their family. June left the farm to attend high school in Bismarck. After graduation she had a career as a phone operator. June married Wm. Archie Gamble, Jr. on Sept. 29, 1947. They lived in Bismarck, Minot, and Hopkins, MN, finally settling in St. Louis Park where they raised 5 children. She was active in Sunshine Club and St. Louis Park Women's Club. She loved to travel with Archie whose career enabled them to see the world. She was a diligent and faithful homemaker. She took joy in baking a huge variety of Christmas cookies annually, the most delicious being the huge batch of rosettes that she made with her friend, Marge. She was a gracious stay-at-home mom and later found great joy in being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. June is survived by her children, Cheryl (Roy) Colbert of Paynesville, MN, Marla (Jim Thielen) Gamble of St. Paul, MN, Dane (Margaret) Gamble of Bozeman, MT, Gregg (Susan) Gamble of Pequot Lakes, MN and Gail (Richard) Dix of E. Wenatchee, WA; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Darline Cvancara; sisters- in-law, LauraJean, Carole and Connie, all of North Dakota; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Archie; her parents; sister, Connie; and brothers, Larry, Bill, Jack and Dick. Her wish to die at home was able to be granted through the kindness and compassionate care of our Visiting Angel, Amy McLaughlin and caregivers Sue, Tracie and Aspira. We gratefully thank Visiting Angels, Interim Home Health and Hospice, Methodist Hospice, friends and family who made this happen so perfectly over the past months.
