Juliann Lee Enroth

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Juliann Lee (Moden) Enroth, on August 16, 2025. She passed away peacefully at the age of 76 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Julie is survived by her loving husband, Ken, two children, Josh & Zach, daughter-in-law, Katie, and her cherished granddaughter, Hattie. She will be deeply missed by the rest of her family and her many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aggie and Gordy Moden. Julie was a beacon of love and strength. She rarely got worked up over trivial matters and took life as it came with little to no complaints, even while battling cancer. Julie was also a true giver. She always had a knack for finding the perfect gift. It didn't matter if it was a birthday, holiday, or just getting together for lunch, she always had something to share. She did so without needing validation or the expectation that it be reciprocated. She just enjoyed sharing with the people she loved. She dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted wife to Ken for 54 years, during which time she (they) raised Josh and Zach. Her greatest joy, however, was found in her role as a grandmother to her only grandchild, Hattie. Hattie brought a special joy to Julie as Julie did to Hattie. It was contagious. She would set up dolls on the front porch of their house every time Hattie came to visit. Hattie loved it! Hattie was always excited to get on an airplane to see Grandma Julie. They would play with "babies" together, play with Play-Doh, and "paint" (color, draw, etc.). They were two peas in a pod. Although Mom was an only child, she found a "sister" in her older cousin, Nancy. She looked up to Nancy from a young age and continued to until the end. Julie had an extended network of friends. Some were more recent, while others dated back to her childhood. She treasured each and every connection with all her friends, as each connection was unique and special. That was never more evident than after her passing, with all her friends who reached out and had the most beautiful things to say about her. Julie had many other things she loved to do besides spending time with friends and family: She loved visiting Minnesota's North Shore from Duluth to Grand Marais and every little gift shop in between. Lake Superior held a special place in her heart. Memories of visiting Lake Superior from her childhood to taking her own family when the time came, to mom and dad making trips as empty nesters. The Big Lake brought a certain sense of calm, solitude, and connection. Standing on the shore on an overcast day with chilly temps and a stiff breeze off the lake with her dog was her happy place. She was an unabashed animal lover. It was rare when the house didn't have some sort of pets. In the early years, Dad would leave the country for work and come home to a new cat more than once. Mom volunteered as a docent at Como Zoo. She used to bring animals to Josh & Zach's classrooms for show & tell. Wood ducks, beavers, and even a baby lion (named Tiger, incidentally). It was always a treat when she came by the classroom to show animals. She had a deep love of tracing her ancestry. Since starting the process, she has had the incredible opportunity to connect with relatives not only Stateside but with relatives in Norway and Sweden. The more she learned of her family origins (both Moden and Enroth), the more she wanted to learn. She was incredibly proud of her family origins and loved sharing what she had discovered with her family. Mom loved the arts. She played piano (like her father). She enjoyed matting and framing pictures, and hand-tinting vintage pictures, which led her to create her own line of greeting cards called The 38th Street Girls. It was a tribute to her mom, Aggie, and two aunts, Roxie & Marti, who grew up on 38th street in south Minneapolis. Her Uncle Woody and others made several appearances as well. She also had an extensive doll collection that only grew larger over the years. The Enroth household was never dull. There were always friends of the boys coming and going, sometimes at all hours of the night. Rather than getting upset, she embraced it. Even going as far as keeping their friend's favorite snacks on hand for when they visited. The Enroth house was a safe place for everyone to go. Everyone was invited and welcome. It was like a second home for all the friends. She truthfully enjoyed the chaos of having Josh and Zach's friends at the house. Losing Julie is an immense loss that will be felt for a long time. We will miss the family ancestry updates, the pictures from the past, the holiday decorations at the house, the special random packages full of presents for Hattie, or simply calling to say hi. Although gone way too soon, we are grateful for the time we were able to have with her. We will treasure those memories and celebrate her life by remembering the stories and continuing to live a life she would be proud of. We would like to extend an invitation to celebrate her life. A service will be held at Minnehaha Communion Lutheran Church at 4101 37th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN. 55406 on September 27th, 2025, at 11:00. A lunch will immediately follow the service at the church.
