Judith Ann Darwin

Darwin, Judith Ann (Kirchner) Age 77, of Edina, passed away peacefully January 1, 2024 surrounded by her family after a six month battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Preceded by parents, Clarence and Eileen (Lundt). Judy is survived by her loving husband, Robert ("Bob"); siblings Jim (Patty) Kirchner and Joan (Dennis) Millerbernd; daughters Sara (Ryan Gordon) and Laura (Jeb Burke); 7 grandchildren, Owen, Jonah, Joey, Clara, Libby, Aidan, and Ella; and many nieces and nephews. Judy lived life to the fullest as a wonderful and beloved Wife, Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Friend, Neighbor, Nurse, Colleague and Parishioner who indelibly etched her spirit in those fortunate to spend time with her. She was a natural healer and caregiver who put the care of others ahead of her own needs. Judy was born and grew up in West St. Paul, lived briefly in California in 1968 and 1969 after marrying Bob, and moved back to Minnesota where she and Bob lived in Edina for the majority of their 56 years together raising their family. Judy earned a nursing degree from Hennepin County General Hospital in 1967 and worked as a Registered Nurse for over 45 years at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and in the HealthEast system. She was an avid runner for 40 years, ran many marathons, and could be found most Saturdays running around Lakes Harriet and Calhoun followed by breakfast at Great Harvest. She enjoyed being very active and had life-long passions for gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, and traveling. Judy loved her family deeply and embraced being a grandmother, babysitting, playing games, traveling, and attending all of her grandkids' many, many events. Faith was a very important part of Judy's life. She was a member of Normandale Lutheran Church in Edina for over 50 years, where she volunteered, baked communion bread, quilted and led the Altar Guild. Memorial service will be held at 11 am Thursday, January 11 at Normandale Lutheran Church, 6100 Normandale Road, Edina, 55436, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
