Joyce Ann Harbinson

Joyce Ann Harbinson Age 64 of Coon Rapids, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 7, 2022. Joyce was born in St Paul, Minnesota to Earl and Lorraine Pruter on May 26, 1958. She grew up in Rosemount MN where she met Dan, a member of the US Navy stationed in Rosemount, and they were married on Jan 3, 1980. In 1982, Dan was ordered to Virginia where they spent the remainder of Dan's Navy career. Joyce worked many jobs over the years but the one that gave her the most pleasure was working as a veterinary technician in Virginia. If you know Joyce, you'll think "that makes sense" because you know of her love of animals. After Dan retired from the Navy the family moved back to Minnesota making Coon Rapids their home. There were many others but two of the joys of her life was the arrival of her son, Jason, in 1990 and the arrival of her granddaughter, Harper, in 2020. She was very proud of Jason and so happy she was physically able to attend the recent ceremony where he was pinned and sworn-in as a Coon Rapids Firefighter. She so much loved her little granddaughter and wished she could do more with her. Joyce was born with a complex heart issue that impacted her health for a good portion of her life. Especially over the past couple of years, it seemed like she faced one health-related hurdle after the other. A true fighter, she sailed over each hurdle as they came and got ready for the next. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her husband of 42 years Dan, son Jason (Liz) Harbinson; granddaughter, Harper; father, Earl; brothers, Dan Pruter and Richard (Laurie) Pruter; sister, Sharon (Jim) Koslowski and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. But we take some solace knowing her health struggles and pain are over and that she is now in the loving arms of her mother. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 11AM at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd NW, Coon Rapids. Visitation beginning at 10AM. Following the memorial service, a gathering will be hosted from 12PM to 1:30PM at the Riverwind 1 Community Building, 2701 Northdale Blvd, Coon Rapids for anyone who wants to attend. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in the Spring of 2023. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local ASPCA in Joyce's honor.
