Joyce Carolyn Dedolph

Joyce Dedolph, 92, of Inver Grove Heights, MN, passed away peacefully on Sept 7, 2024, at the N.C. Little Hospice in Edina, surrounded by her family and birdsong. Joyce was born on March 24, 1932 in St. Paul to Eric and Edna (Anderson) Franzen. She graduated from Amery High School and became a comptometer operator and secretary. She met Carter Dedolph while they were working at 3M in St. Paul, and they married in 1959. The couple lived in Somerset, WI and had 4 children. In 1976, the family moved to Columbus, WI, where they enjoyed living for more than 24 years. As the world's best homemaker and mother, Joyce was an amazing cook and baker, specializing in pies and bread. She loved to tat and knit and was an especially talented seamstress-even making wedding dresses for her daughters. Joyce was an avid gardener, a nature enthusiast, and enjoyed flower arranging and bird watching. She was a master of enjoying the simple pleasures in life whether a gorgeous sunset, a double rainbow, or her magnolia tree in blossom. After retiring, Joyce and Carter moved to DeForest, WI. They traveled the world to research their genealogies, leaving an amazing gift to their family. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in 2010. Carter passed away the next year. Joyce then moved to Inver Grove Heights to be closer to her children. Joyce is survived by her children Carter Dedolph Jr. (Cayte Anderson) of Hudson; Carolyn Cabrera of Antipolo, Philippines; Carrie Franzen of Eagan; and Forrest Dedolph of Minnesota; and grandchildren Keelan, Ian and Callan Dedolph; Kian Hein; and Indigo Cabrera. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and infant brother Eric. Friends and family are invited to attend the interment service in Columbus, WI, at the Hillside Cemetery, North Lewis St., on Friday, Sept 13 at 1 p.m. A simple get-together at Faith Lutheran Church will follow. A memorial service to celebrate Joyce's life will be held at the chapel in Timber Hills Presbyterian Homes, 6309 Burnham Circle, Inver Grove Heights, on Thursday, Sept 19 at 2 pm. Joyce's family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff of N.C. Little Hospice in Edina for providing loving care. Donations in Joyce's memory may be made to N.C. Little Hospice.
