Jonathan Ryan Copeland April 6, 1988 - June 9, 2025 Jonathan (Jon) Ryan Copeland, 37, of Eagan, MN, passed away suddenly on June 9th. He was born in St. Paul, MN to Barbara (Barb) and Lawrence (Larry) Copeland. Jon earned his Auto Body Technician Diploma from Hennepin Technical College and worked at an auto body shop following graduation. He decided to change careers and eventually found a home at the Eagan US Postal Service. He was proud to have been promoted to a permanent full-time position as Mail Handler Assistant this year after certifying as a forklift operator along with achieving other heavy equipment credentials. Jon was a hard worker and enjoyed his coworkers and the busyness of the night shift. Jon loved spending time with his family and multitude of friends. His passion was Minnesota sports - specifically hockey and his favorite team, the Minnesota Wild. He attended as many games as he could each season or watched them when his schedule allowed. He inherited his father's love for collecting sports memorabilia such as baseball cards, bobble heads, jerseys, etc. Everyone knew how Jon adored his three cats, Nordy, Halsey, and Flurry. Fortunately many of his friends were also cat lovers who have already found new homes for them. Jon was born with a rare heart condition that required surgeries and also affected his liver. This may have contributed to his unexpected passing which shocked his family, friends, and loved ones who are still reeling at the loss. Despite his affliction, he lived a vibrant life and still had so much ahead of him. He was taken far too soon. Jon was preceded in death by his father Larry Copeland and is survived by his mother, Barb Copeland, brothers Benjamin (Ben) Copeland and Michael Larson, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jon's celebration of life will be at Washburn-McReavy funeral home, 2300 Old Shakopee Rd, Bloomington, MN 55431 on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 2:00pm - 5:00pm. A prayer service will be held at 3:00pm followed by a farewell reception with an opportunity to share stories or comments. Donations are welcome to the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley, MN where Jon adopted two of his cats.
