John Thomas Weingart

John Thomas Weingart passed away on July 16, 2025, in Bloomington, MN, at the age of 91. He was born on September 24, 1933, in Minneapolis to Al and Marie Weingart. John attended St. Bridget Catholic School, where in the third grade, Sister Frances introduced him to the violin-sparking a love and talent for music that lasted more than 80 years. He graduated from DeLaSalle High School in 1951 and went on to earn a degree in business from the College of St. Thomas in 1955. Throughout his youth, John developed passions for both hockey and golf. Golf became a lifelong hobby, and he enjoyed playing on the Resorters Amateur Circuit throughout Minnesota. As part of this, he also hosted the annual "Weingart Invitational" at the New Prague Golf Club-a tradition of laughter, competition, and camaraderie. "You're a Shoe-in"! John enjoyed a long and successful 40-year career in trust and investment banking, beginning with First Bank and continuing with Wells Fargo, where he built lasting friendships with many of his colleagues. In 1970, John married Jeanne in Waterloo, Iowa. Together they built a warm and welcoming life in Bloomington, raising two children, Brian and Katie. Their home became a gathering place for neighbors and friends, and family life was filled with countless memories. Travel was one of John's great pleasures. Their family explored much of North America and, in retirement, adventured further throughout Europe, China, Vietnam, Russia, and South America. At home, he proudly became the family "super fan," never missing a game, concert, or school event for his grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Marie Weingart; and his brothers, Roger and Paul (Margaret) Weingart; along with many dear friends and extended family members. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanne; children Brian Weingart and Katie (Joe) Lawrence; and grandchildren Makaila and Kyllie Weingart, and Noah and Brody Lawrence. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. A celebration of life will be held at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 9201 Normandale Blvd, Bloomington, MN, on Friday, August 8. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m., with the service at 11:00 a.m. and a luncheon to follow at the church.
