John H. "Jack" Nordin

John H. “Jack” Nordin, age 81, of Minneapolis, MN went home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2015, after battling pancreatic cancer. Born in Minneapolis, Jack graduated from Washburn High School, earned a degree from the University of Minnesota and served in Korea with the U. S. Army. He retired from Wells Fargo after 32 years in banking. He attended First Evangelical Free church his entire life and as a member served in many capacities working as a Boys Brigade leader, high school sponsor, Vacation Bible Camp magician, church treasurer, council member, senior class leader and co-chair of the funeral committee. As a professional magician, juggler, and “Jacko” the clown, Jack belonged to the Fellowship of Christian Magicians, Society of American Magicians, IBM, IJA, COA and Minneapolis Aqua Jesters. The Society of American Magicians recently honored him for his 60-year membership. Jack was a man of strong faith, using his talents to share the Gospel and bring joy to others. Jack married Phyllis (Walkup) Nordin on May 27, 1960, and was father to William, Sarah and Rebecca. Jack loved collecting many things. He was handy; he could fix just about anything and was available to help his family at a moment’s notice. He spent many hours caring for his grandchildren while their parents were at work. He was interested in passing on his magic skills to his son, grandchildren or anyone who showed interest. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ebba Nordin, and sister, Dorothy. Remembered by his loving family, wife of 54 years, Phyllis; children, Bill (Heidi) Nordin, Sarah (John) Clinton, Becca (Joseph) Peters; and 10 grandchildren (Jacob, Mikayla, Isaac Nordin; Alex, Henry, Lydia, Owen Clinton; Emma, Jack and Jonah Peters); and brother, Robert Nordin; sisters-in-law Nancy (Lon) Fowler, Eunice Dotter, Dr. Jennifer Haythornthwaite; brothers-in-law Dick (Angie) Olson, and Dr. John Walkup; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the N. C. Little Hospice for the loving care Jack and our family received during his final days. Memorial donations may be made to the a N. C. Little Hospice, Edina, MN or First Evangelical Free Church, Minneapolis, MN. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
