Joan Marie Yearling-Parnell

Joan Marie Yearling Parnell, 79, of Port Hope Township, Tenstrike, Minnesota passed away on October 18, 2021 peacefully at home with her children by her side. Joan was born on July 27,1942 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Henry & Gertrude Klinkner. She graduated from Hinsdale Highschool in 1960. She married Ron P. Yearling on October 2,1960 in Westmont, IL. She lived with Ron in the Chicago area for 36 years. She then moved to Spencer, Iowa for 3 years and worked as a telephone operator. In 1979 her and Ron purchased Pike Point Resort in Tenstrike, MN. While operating the resort she also worked at Anderson Fabrics for a few years. You could always find Joan attending her children's, football, basketball or volleyball games. She wintered in Florida with Ron at Citrus Park in Bonita Springs, FL. since 1993 until Ron passed away in 2008. She then continued to enjoy Florida and met Richard Parnell in 2010. She found love once again and married Richard on 11/11/2011. They enjoyed a second marriage celebration in Blackduck in June of 2012. She and Richard enjoyed living in Florida in the winter months and living in Tenstrike in the spring and summer. Joan will be remembered for her SMILE, genuine sense of caring and willingness to always help. She loved to take trips, especially to Germany, Hawaii, Oregon and many cruise ships trips with both Ron and Richard. Joan was very skilled at sewing, line dancing crafts and even had a craft shop in her lodge at Pike Point. She was an amazing cook and everyone loved to eat at the lodge. She loved the weekly Potluck Fish Frys at the lodge and visiting with all of her guests. She loved to play games, especially cards and had a love for puzzles as well. Her and Richard worked on puzzles for hours! Joan also loved to garden, bird watch and have plenty of food for the hummingbirds. She loved spending time with her grandkids the most and always had a gift for everyone! Her smiles, hugs and kisses will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband Richard of Bath, PA; 3 step daughters, Carol Bubak-Hernan Brizuela, Linda(David) Opdyke, Laurie(Mark) Thompson; her 3 sons, Dave(Karlynn) of Minneapolis, MN, Chris of Owatonna, MN, and Heath(Jamie) of Hutchinson, MN; 2 daughters, Gina Kusper of Braidwood, IL and Angie(Joe) Pufahl of Saint Michael, MN; 1 brother, Jim(Roxy) Foster of Monticello, MN; 27 grandchildren, Douglas, Shannon, Kayla & Jake children of Doug, George, Samuel & Michael children of Carol, Chad, Matthew, and Casey Lyn children of Linda, Nich0las & Sean children of Laurie, Kristin & Brad the children of Gina, Drew the child of Dave and Karlynn, Chantel, Blake & Austin the children of Chris, Nick, Grant, Jill & Bethany the children of Heath and Jamie and Mariah, Cole, Jordan & Emma children of Angie and Joe, 1 great grandchild; Dominic the grandchild of Chris and the numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, many special friends and resort guests. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Gertrude Klinkner; her sister, Gert; her sister Dolores; her sister Annette; her step son, Doug and many other loved friends and family members. We will never forget you Mom~You are so LOVED, Gina, Dave, Chris, Heath and Angie
