Mrs Jeryl Ann Evans

Evans (Millner), Jeryl Ann passed away on Dec. 22, 2018 after a three year battle with cancer. Proceeded in death by her father John and brothers Jeff and Jody, Jeryl is survived by her loving husband, Duane; mother, Jean Fontaine; sister, Jayne; brothers, John (Susan) and Jere; brothers-in-law, Terry (Pam), William and sister-in-law, Pam; nieces Heather, Heidi, Jaime, and Julie. Jeryl was born in Minneapolis and graduated from Bloomington Jefferson HS in 1977 where she played flute in band and string bass in orchestra, as well as playing soccer. After graduating with a degree in accounting from U of M, Duluth, Jeryl's long and successful career in the financial service industry began in 1981 at Northwestern National Life. Her remarkable ability to work with and remember financial data was recognized by NWNL, later Reliastar, where she eventually rose to the position of CFO of Northern Life in Seattle, ING. Jeryl eventually moved to Ameriprise Financial, serving as VP/ Lead Financial Officer for Insurance, Annuities and Certificates. She retired upon her cancer diagnosis in 2016 giving her time to see Duane work and to meet his staff and patients. They grew to love her as well, as Jeryl was at all times courageous, patient, accepting and kind a model for all of us in facing life's greatest challenge with dignity and grace. Jeryl shared her love of college sports with her husband Duane, holding season tickets for both Gopher football and volleyball. She made football tailgating an actual culinary delight, and particularly enjoyed away-game travels with Duane to support their teams. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed seeking finds in antique shops with a discipline envied by her in-laws. Jeryl also enjoyed the symphony, jazz music, and cooking, and spending quality time with her dear friends was an important part of her life. Jeryl could quote Dow Jones, NCAA and Drum Corps statistics with equal virtuosity, do it while explaining the superiority of Grain Belt Premium, and still appear modestshe was truly Duane's ideal soul-mate. She was brilliant, humble, gentle and loving, and the Evans family was greatly privileged and blessed to call Jeryl daughter, sister and wife for the past 25 years. A funeral mass will be held at Incarnation Catholic Church, 3817 Pleasant Ave. in South Minneapolis on Saturday Feb. 2nd at 11:00 AM. Visitation at will be on Friday Feb. 1st from 5-7 PM at Washburn McCreavy Funeral home at 5000 W. 50th St. in Edina.
