Jerry Robert Murphy

Jerry Robert Murphy was born in Watertown, Minnesota on March 21, 1969. He left us too early, passing away on October 9, 2024, at only 55 years old. Jerry is survived by his best friend and loving partner, Lisa Meredith; his mother and stepdad, Elaine and Roger Pacyga; his two adult children, Aliah and Alister Murphy; Oliver, the dog; and many friends and family members. Jerry has struggled with his health over the past few years and had just received the exciting news that he was approved for a kidney and pancreas transplant. Sadly, the past few months have been too hard for his body and his huge loving heart just slowed and stopped. He passed peacefully. Jerry was known for his love of painting and gaming, and his artistic talent and love for sharing his skills by teaching and mentoring others. He was known as "Uncle Jerry" by the kids of many friends, teaching them to paint and game. He loved a celebration and a really good convention, including GENcon, Reapercon, GaryCON, ComicCON - any event he and his friends could attend to participate in painting and games, and "show and tell" their purchased "loot" from the event. He even had "JerryCON 2019" for his 50th birthday to eat, share stories, game, and laugh well into the night. He was rarely seen without a sketchbook in his hands, and he loved to travel. In his younger years, he enjoyed trips to London, Ireland, and Malaysia. In more recent years, Jerry and Lisa - along with his parents and kids - took annual summer trips to northern Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Jerry and Lisa traveled to Texas and Mexico, and took many road trips, including the infamous "Not Kansas City" road trip last fall. More than anything, Jerry loved being a dad. He put his kids first. He loved them both and wanted nothing more for them than to live happy lives. If you knew him, consider yourself lucky and blessed, or as his gaming friends would say, you rolled a "Nat 20"! A visitation and service followed by a Celebration of Life (or as Jerry would have wanted, an "Irish Wake") will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024. The visitation will be at 1:00 pm, followed by a service at 2:00 pm at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433. Following the service, we will raise a glass and share many stories and hugs at a Celebration of Life from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sweeney's, 96 Dale Street N, Saint Paul, MN 55102. Event will be held upstairs in the Oak Room. Light food and a cash bar will be available. We hope each guest will take one of Jerry's miniatures with them to paint. May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
