Jenica Ann Rothfolk (Age 41) Woodbury, Minnesota - Jenica Ann Rothfolk, a passionate and adventurous spirit, passed away peacefully at home on June 10th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. After a courageous four-year battle with kidney disease, Jenica made the difficult decision to end treatment. Those who knew her will remember her boundless strength and unwavering love. She faced every challenge with grace and determination. She did hard things, beautifully. Jenica leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. She is survived by her son, Zayden (8), her parents, Barbara, and Craig, and stepmother Twyla, her siblings, Janelle and Aaron, and her nephews, Atticus (15) and August (10), as well as many caring aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is also lovingly preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary Jane, Alice, Norman, and Burdell, along with numerous extended family members and cherished pets. Born on December 14th, 1982, in Des Moines, Iowa, Jenica arrived with her twin sister, Janelle. Their early years were filled with adventure as the family moved across Iowa before settling in Eagan, Minnesota, where Jenica spent the rest of her childhood. After attending Mankato State University, her spirit and her heart led her westward. Jenica thrived on making connections with others. She had an enriching career that combined her love of people with her culinary talents. Whether working in customer service or as a chef, Jenica poured her heart into creating positive experiences for those around her. She left a trail of warm memories and delicious meals across various corners of the United States, including Colorado, Washington, Alaska, California, and Nevada. Minnesota ultimately became her sanctuary in her later years. It offered her a new career as a mother and gave her immense joy and love as she devoted herself entirely to Zayden. A true citizen of every place she lived, Jenica embraced the unique cultures and experiences offered by her travels. From the majestic mountains of Colorado to the rugged Alaskan wilderness, she reveled in the beauty of the natural world. California's sunshine and Nevada's bright lights undoubtedly witnessed her infectious enthusiasm. Yet, throughout her journeys, her vulnerable heart knew pain and a powerful healing connection always drew her back to her Minnesota roots. She cherished celebrating holidays when home, especially the 4th of July (fireworks show!), being surrounded by familiar traditions, and showcasing her unwavering support of the Minnesota Vikings. In her free time, Jenica enjoyed cars, particularly Ford Mustangs, going out to eat, and making lots of food for friends and family. She also found relaxation in watching the Food Network, Wheel of Fortune, and Price is Right. While possessing a touch of stubborn independence, demanding precision, and a playful mischievous streak, Jenica's heart overflowed with kindness and generosity. She readily donated her time, energy, and even her hair to worthy causes. Jenica believed in living life with an open heart and was brave enough to show all of her love. She will be remembered for her infectious enthusiasm, caring nature, and love for life, a love that vibrated for us all and forever found its way back home to Minnesota for us to share. A celebration of life will be held at the Orville Commons Event Space (4290 Radio Dr, Woodbury, MN) on Sunday, June 16th from 2-6 pm. A memorial service will be held at St Stephen Lutheran Church (8400 France Avenue South, Bloomington, MN) on Monday, June 17th with visitation at 10 am, the funeral at 11 am, with lunch to follow.
