Jean Marie Reistad

Jean Marie Reistad passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at age 61, following a battle with cancer. Jean was visited by many family and friends at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis in the days before her passing. In her final moments, she was surrounded by loved ones and passed away peacefully. Jean is survived by parents, Wayne and Marilyn Reistad; brothers, Raymond (Judy) and Mark (Michele) Reistad; nieces, nephews, Meghan (Jake), Courtney (Bear), Danette (Riley), Cassandra, and Riley; relatives and many friends. Born to Wayne and Marilyn Reistad on May 9, 1962, Jean was the second of three children and the only daughter. Jean grew up in Ellendale, Minnesota. After high school graduation, Jean attended Golden Valley Lutheran College and the College of St. Thomas and was a long-time employee of Northwest and Delta Air Lines. She was loyal and committed to family and friends and was well-loved in return. Jean, also known as Jean-Bean, Queen Jean, and many other nicknames, was dynamic and full of life. Well-loved for her huge heart, she was known to laugh and cry in the same sentence. Jean loved to read, craft, knit, chat, travel, laugh, and shop for bargains. She was a bright light to everyone who knew her. Jean was the best daughter, sibling, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend that anyone could have. She was fiercely independent and an incredible role model for all around her, especially the young women in her life. Jean had friends from all walks of life who she loved and respected dearly. She had the amazing ability to remember everyone's favorite things and catered to that often. It's truly remarkable, the sheer number of lives touched by Jean. Jean's commitment to her family was second to none and she loved being an aunt to her nieces and nephew. She attended more dance competitions, lacrosse games, wrestling matches, and track meets than anyone could count and knew teammate names and opponent stats better than anyone. Jean did everything to the max! She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing - she would lead the table prayer at every family event. Everyone loved having Jean around, especially because it increased the odds of getting to enjoy "Jean's (Almost) Famous Salsa." Jean traveled all over the world but often said being at the family cabin in Longville, Minnesota, was her favorite place to be. She loved spending the Fourth of July week with all of her loved ones, nice and close, squished into one cabin. Jean loved having a cocktail or a glass of wine and chatting. Anyone lucky enough to share a margarita on a patio with Jean was truly fortunate. She was a zealous reader and loaned her books out to others with full reviews or honest critiques. Jean gave the best hugs and had a special way of making you feel welcomed and loved in her presence. Even after her diagnosis, Jean lived life to the fullest. Her faith in Jesus was unwavering and inspiring. She was known for her relentless positivity, courage, and determination in the midst of her five-year fight against cancer. Although it feels Jean's time here on Earth came to a close much too soon, she will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, generosity, humor, compassion, spirit, and strength. Jean is at peace knowing just how loved she was by all. Jean's Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 8th (visitation from 10-11 AM) at Roseville Lutheran Church, 1215 Roselawn Ave. W., Roseville, MN. A luncheon will be held following the service in the church dining hall.
