Jean Dolores Lindley

Psalm 100:4 Jean Dolores Lindley of Minneapolis, MN, passed away peacefully into her Savior's arms on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the age of 87. Jean Hegdahl was born on May 5, 1936. The oldest of 6 children born to Orville and Gertrude Hegdahl, she was helpful in her busy childhood home. Jean learned to sew at an early age and created many of her own clothes. She met the love of her life, Clarence S. Lindley, Jr. in 6th grade. They were married on July 1, 1955 and the Lord blessed them with 65 years of marriage. While her husband attended college and dental school, Jean utilized her proficiency with shorthand as well as her organizational and communication skills for a number of years as the Executive Secretary in Laboratory Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Jean transitioned into a homemaker role, raising their three children. She was a creative, insightful, kind, health-conscious, and eager-to-experience-life mom, wife, and hostess. Jean and Clarence loved to travel the world, and also spent countless weekends with guests at their lake townhome near Brainerd, MN. Jean often played the piano while friends and family sang along. As her children grew, she offered her secretarial skills to Clarence's dental practice in New Hope, MN. Jean never stopped sewing and turned her love of stitching clothing into a prolific passion for quilting. She was a member of MN Quilters and other groups: the Dental Auxiliary, the Golden Valley Country Club, PEO, S & B stitching group, and a Gourmet Group with friends. She also grew deeper in her relationship with her Savior through many years in Bible Study Fellowship. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Clarence S. Lindley, Jr., parents, Orville and Gertrude Hegdahl, and one sister, Judy Sutcliffe. She is survived by her children, Dana LaDuke of Shoreview, Todd (Mary) Lindley of Oakdale, Cara (Erick) Bothun of Rochester; nine grandchildren, Adam (Abby), Abby (David), Ross (Sarah), Tyler (Meaghan), Paige (Julio), Cole, Dane (Olivia), Luke, and Thea, 12 great grandchildren, Reid, Renn, River, Rose, Emma, Riley, Kaia, Olen, Eleanor, Luca, Rafiel, Zoey, and two more on the way, one brother, Ron, and three sisters, Rae, Janet, and Penny (Clarence). An 11am graveside celebration is planned for Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church's cemetery in Lanesboro, MN, with a lunch gathering following at the Sons of Norway Lodge, also in Lanesboro, MN. Please bring your own outdoor chair for the graveside celebration.
