Jean Helen Langlois

Jean Helen Langlois was born in the midst of the Great Depression on March 1, 1931 in Hawkins WI to Stanley and Eleanora Bush. She was the youngest of 8 children. Growing up on the family farm in Radisson WI, she worked hard but also spent time with many lifelong friends like Irene, Adeline and Bob (to name a few) going dancing at the local ballroom, swimming in the creek behind the farm and earning extra money picking potatoes or strawberries. Like many of this generation, school was second to working on the farm. While brothers went into the service, sisters got married and moved to Chicago, she remained working alongside her mom. Her dad left to work in Kentucky and passed away in 1947. As a young adult, Jean was always the bridesmaid but never the bride. In fact, she stood up to 11 weddings! She was also selected as festival royalty alongside future sister-in-law Maysel. In 1956, she met the love of her life, Leon Langlois. They were married September 28, 1957 at St Peter Catholic church in Winter WI. Early married life had them moving several times among the locations were Radisson WI where they ran a general store and a drive in restaurant in Minong WI. In early 1964, they left Wisconsin for Minnesota where they settled in Blaine and raised their four children, Debi, Gary, Larry and youngest Bryan. It was at this time, Jean stayed home with the kids while Leon took on a variety of sales positions. Leon tragically passed January 17, 1969 leaving a 37 year old widow and mother of four in a house with a mortgage and bills to pay. She started working as a babysitter then part time at the high school as a lunch lady. Finally, as the kids were able to be on their own more, she found full time work at Ball Brothers in Blaine and eventually at 3M. She was often praised for her meticulous work as a electronic assembler. In 1996, she retired but kept busy volunteering at the VFW post 363 in Fridley, or what she called, "The Club". She catered with many people who became close friends. Other ways she volunteered were at the VA home, nursing homes and Anoka County social services building. Jean made friends easily, some of which were close to her home like Sharon and Darryl Quinehan, Linda Kohler, Victor and Patty Anderson, Jack and Bonnie Swanson, George and Ivy Shaffer, and Jerry and Marge Nouis. Joyce Noyes, Wanda Berwald, Nita Anderson, Chick and Alice Meagher, Jim and Angie Busterud; Dick and Betty Wells and Jan Burhite were also longtime friends, along with many more. Of course, let's not forget that by this time, Jean was also blessed with four beautiful grandchildren; Stephanie, John, Paul and Jennifer and four great grand children Cooper, Charleigh, Jack and Betty. She loved them all! Jean lived in the same house in Blaine MN for 50 plus years but in early 2016 it was time for assisted living. She had talked about for this for years. So, with Jean's ok, we moved her into Edgewood Senior Living facility. It was here she met even more friends which included residents and nurses alike. She loved playing bingo and was humble about winning many, many times. In September 2022, Jean had to move to Edgemont Place where she passed away peacefully on Dec. 18, 2022.
