Jean Marie Fredenburg

Jean (Thompson) Fredenburg, 75, passed away on June 30, 2025, after a long battle with kidney disease. Jean was born on February 23, 1950, to Walter and Dorothy (Arnold) Thompson. She graduated from Edina High School in 1968 and later graduated from St Catherine's University with a Bachelor's degree. In her working career, Jean worked in mortgage banking for Prudential Mortgage and Norwest Mortgage, and later as a corporate librarian for Pillsbury. At the end of her career, she worked for the James J Hill business library. Jean married Miles Fredenburg on July 12, 1997, and they resided in Shoreview, MN for 28 years. Miles and Jean were members of the Centennial United Methodist Church in Roseville, MN. Jean had a love of animals, especially butterflies and dogs. She and Miles had a yellow Lab named Jasper for over 13 years that she loved dearly. She also loved to travel, highlighted by trips to Alaska and Africa. There were also travels to national parks, Canada, Mexico, and cruises to the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. She also enjoyed spending winter months with Miles in Miramar Beach, Florida. Jean loved flowers. She had a backyard flower garden and flower boxes below the windows of her house, for which she maintained seasonal flowers and decorations. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her nieces and nephews, going to family events. and enjoying holiday and family get-togethers. She also enjoyed researching and studying her family history, including traveling to places where her relatives had lived. Jean enjoyed time with her friends. She was member of the "J" group, a group of seven women who would get together for lunches, events, and activities. She also enjoyed getting together with two Twin Cities couples who also wintered with them in Miramar Beach, and with her Pillsbury "alumni" work group. Jean also enjoyed participating with church friends in social events and activities. Jean is survived by her husband Miles, brothers John (Diane), Tom (Kelly), Greg, and sisters Linda Rasmussen, Debby Lewis, brother-in-law Scott Wardrope, nephews and nieces Cynthia Thompson, Steven Thompson, Todd Wardrope, Rick Wardrope, Jason Rasmussen (Jeanelle), Heidi O'Donnell (Matt), Elizabeth Lewis, Melissa Payne (Jesse), Lily Thompson, and Rachel Thompson. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, sister Caroline, and brother-in-law Lee Rasmussen. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, July 17 at Centennial United Methodist Church, 1524 County Road C2, Roseville, MN 55126. Visitation will begin at 10 am, service at 11 am, with a lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centennial United Methodist Church, American Kidney Fund or Animal Humane Society.
