Jean B. Carter

Jean B. Carter, born in Rockford, IA on November 27, 1936 to Clarence and Lena (Arends) Hinders. Went to be with our Lord on June 15, 2023, at the age of 86. Jean spent her childhood living on the family farm in Floyd, IA until she moved to St Paul, MN in the Fall of 1957 and took a job working at Whiteway Dry Cleaners. On August 30, 1958, Bill and Jean traveled back to Osage, IA. where they were married at the First Baptist Church. Making St Paul, MN their new home, they welcomed their first of what were to be four children, in the fall of 1959. Jean was a homemaker for several years until she returned to part-time work. In May of 1977, she started working for Waldorf Paper Company as a machine operator until she retired in 1997. After retirement Jean and Bill traveled, mostly in the USA, but also took a trip to Europe. They even bought a small travel trailer and camped for many years at the Annandale Flea Market where they sold collectable kitchenware and various items Jean handcrafted. Jean loved her crafts which included sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and ceramics. Jean loved her family and spending time with them, especially during the holidays. Jean is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Bill; children, Mark (Charlene), Michael (Barbara) and Shelly (Timothy) Medina; 9 grandchildren, Stephanie Thompson, Joseph (Ricky Cardenas) Carter, Rachel (Michael) Sauer, Daniel (Tara) Medina, Michelle (Carlos German Diaz) Medina German, Andrew (Danielle) Carter, Craig (Cassandra) Carter, David (Lilly) Medina, and Gabrielle (Russell) Wedger; 11 great grandchildren, Allie, Christopher, Henry, Clay, Vivian, Eleanor, Shelby, Gordon, Lane, Dutton and Audrey; sister, Janice Grummer of IA and sister-in-law, Gloria Hinders of IA. Jean is preceded in death by infant daughter, Penny Jo, parents, Clarence and Lena and brothers, John, Lloyd, and Donald. Funeral Service 11 AM (visitation 10 AM) on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Fairmount Avenue Methodist Church, 1523 Fairmount Ave., St. Paul. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial preferred to donor's choice.
