Jay William Siedschlaw

Jay William Siedschlaw, 50, went home to be with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on December 29, 2022, at North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota with his wife, Jenny, by his side. Jay was born May 19, 1972, in Wessington Springs, SD to Bob and Jill Siedschlaw. He was a kind, and generous man with a compassionate and encouraging heart. He will especially, be remembered for his sense of humor, infectious laugh and beautiful blue eyes. He had a passion for gardening, landscape design and building special projects for his home and yard, traveling and spending time with his family. On May 12, 1995, Jay graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in agriculture. He moved to Minnesota soon after to work as a landscape designer at Dundee Nursery. He enjoyed working with clients and had a gift for listening to their ideas and implementing them to create spaces they could truly enjoy. Jay married Jenny Bell on October 14, 2000. They enjoyed 22 years of marriage, love, and laughter. They were blessed with two beautiful children: Jacob and Abby, who he loved with his whole heart. At the time of his death, Jay worked as a landscape designer at Natural Creations and Hennepin Technical College as a landscape design and construction instructor. In 2014 and 2017 he received the Minnesota State Outstanding Educator Award and the Presidential Spirit of the Heart Award in 2011 for his exceptional personal acts of kindness. He was honored to lead his students in a special project for Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and brought Tree Campus USA to HTC. He was a long-time member of the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association where he served on the Landscape Design committee, as a judge on the MNLA Landscape Awards, as an Academic Trustee, and as the Foundation Board Chairman for four years. The bright smiles he was met with when he walked into the room were evidence that he was dearly loved by his students, colleagues and associates in the landscape and horticulture industry. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Siedschlaw; father-in-law, Art Bell; grandparents, Olga and Ed Selland and Wenton and Betty Siedschlaw. Jay is survived by his wife, Jenny; his children, Jacob, and Abby; his mom, Jill Siedschlaw; his sister, Molly (Alan) Mason; mother-in-law, Pat Bell; brothers-in-law, Justin (Sarah) Bell and Jeremy (Amy) Bell; nieces and nephews, Gillian, Karley, Quinn, Mason, Brennan, Mackenna, Cameron, and Delaney Bell; extended family, friends, colleagues, industry associates, and students. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Northridge Fellowship in Rogers, Minnesota on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 2:00 pm visitation will take place at 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the service. All are welcome to join us following the luncheon for an interment at Word of Peace Cemetery in Rogers, Minnesota. May we honor his memory with smiles, laughter, kindness and grace.
