Janice Marie Greening

Janice Marie (Norton) Greening passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 12, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on September 3, 1939, to Vincent Elmo Norton and Emerald Mae (Wilson) Norton in Agra, Kansas. She graduated from Franklin High School in Franklin, Nebraska. She went on to receive a bachelor's degree in teaching from Wayne State in Nebraska. She taught for the Minneapolis and Bloomington schools before starting her career in the business world of insurance. She married Gary August Greening, her high school sweetheart and soulmate, on September 5, 1959. They were married 65 years. They had two children, Kent Allen Greening and Jean Marie Saboe. She is survived by her husband Gary August Greening, her son Kent Allen (Jennifer) Greening, her daughter Jean Marie (Greening) Saboe, older brother Donald (Bernice) Norton, younger brother Richard (Alana) Norton, sister in law Betty Norton, four grandchildren; Jeff August (Jordan) Greening, Bradley Joseph (Rachel) Greening, Anna Mae Saboe, and Eric Daniel Saboe. She was blessed with three beautiful great granddaughters: Emily Grace (Jeff and Jordan), Claire Elizabeth and Georgia Jo (Brad and Rachel). She is preceded in death by her parents Vincent and Emerald Norton, her father and mother-in-law Gerald and Alice Greening, her brother Ronald Norton, and her sister Barbara Struckhoff. Janice's focus in life was her family and faith. She believed that we are taught to love one another above all else. Her life bible verse was 1 John 4: 7, "Dear Friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God, everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." She was an amazing cook and regularly blessed her family with delicious meals and cookies. She was particularly talented at making soup (especially Beef Barley). She was also a very talented painter of both watercolors and acrylics.
