Janet Olson

Olson, Janet A. (Mantzke, Ravenscroft) Janet A. Olson, age 82, of Marco Island, FL & Edina, MN, died April 29, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, and her sister, Madeleine Titus. She is survived by her two nephews, Hiram Titus, Jr. and Anthony Titus & his wife Kay; three grandnephews, Christopher, Adam and Jack Titus; six "adopted" grandchildren, Val & Brett Johnson and their parents, Ginnie & Rich, Ashley & Nikki Reitz and their parents, Diane & Bob, and Alex & Allison Petry and their parents, Christine & Brian. Also survived by her brother-in-law, Vern Olson, Henderson, NV and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Janet is also survived by her best friend, Sherrill Piotraschke and very dear childhood friend, Ruth Broman and her husband, Raleigh. Janet married Bob Mantzke on June 1, 1951. That marriage ended in 1965. On Sept. 28, 1972, Janet married Ken Olson. Janet sang in the Choralaires, the Prudential chorus and church choirs. Janet worked for Prudential Insurance Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1984 as General Manager, Financial Services. In retirement, Janet helped Marco Island 3rd graders with their reading, knit for charity and volunteered at Wooddale Church. Janet & Ken had 33 wonderful years of marriage and in their retirement years, spent their winters in Florida and their summers in Minnesota. They traveled to many European countries, as well as Canada, Alaska, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Special thanks to Dr. Steven Rousey, Dr. David Walcher and the staff at N.C. A memorial service will be held at Wooddale Church, 5532 Wooddale Ave S., Edina, on Friday, May 7 at 11:00 AM. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery on Friday, May 7 at 9:00 AM.
