Janet Lynne Johnson

Janet Johnson, well known for her incredible spirit, love, and care for others, left us August 24th, 2024. Janet lived her life with great joy and she especially loved to be with her family and friends. Janet was born on March 25th, 1968 in Aurora, NE, a place that she loved and returned to often. Growing up in Nebraska she was active in 4H, Band, and sports. An alum of Aurora High School, University of Nebraska Kearney, and the University of Nebraska Omaha, she got graduate degrees in Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. After some years of working in the clinic setting Janet began teaching at Bethel University finding a passion for teaching and mentoring students in the Athletic Training Program. A devoted wife to husband Bryan, and mom to sons Levi and Noah, Janet was always involved in the lives of her family. Whether it was at church, school, or just hanging out she loved to be with the family. Some of her favorite times were when the family loaded up in a beat-up minivan and hit the road for some far off destination. Many of the trips were to Nebraska and Montana to visit parents and siblings. Janet enjoyed life and had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed being in nature and gardening. Her love for flowers led her to start working with bees. She managed a few hives each year and even got Levi into joining her. She enjoyed reading a good book in the garden with a cup of tea. Janet liked to bake and if the boys were around, she would be in the kitchen and the smell of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies would soon follow. If you knew Janet you knew that her faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life. A member of River of Life church, she served in the children's ministry, women's ministry and wherever else there was a need. She loved to read God's word and to pray with others. Even as illness pressed her in her later years she held fast to her heavenly Father. Jan was blessed in her last years of life to gain a daughter in law, Cassidy, and two beautiful Grandsons, Jeremiah and Wesley. Janet's smile could light up a room and when she was around them she was in her happy place. Janet never forgot her Nebraska roots and she was always in contact with her parents and siblings wanting to know what was going on in their life and how they were doing. She is survived by husband Bryan, Sons Levi and Noah, Daughter in Law Cassidy, Grandsons Jeremiah and Wesley, Father Donald Hansen, Mother Carla Hallstrom, Sisters Kris Hansen-Kieffer and Pat Backer, and Brother Mike Hansen. Services will be held at River of Life Church in Shoreview off Hodgson Road (disregard construction signs and use GPS) at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 31st. Visitation will be Friday, August 30th from 4:00-7:00 PM at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 515 County Rd 96 West in Shoreview MN. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to NC Little Memorial Hospice.
