James Michael Roth

James Michael Roth, born October 2, 1954, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, in North Branch, Minnesota, surrounded by loved ones. James was a beloved husband to his late wife, Debra, and a dedicated father to Heath (and daughter-in-law Andrea) and Blair (and son-in-law Jose). He was a cherished grandfather to Tristan and Mattie, and a loving son to his mother, Kathy. He is also survived by his brothers Norm and Dave, and his sister Cindy. James graduated from Ramsey High School, where he was known for his football prowess and where he met his future wife, Debbie. He went on to attend Lakewood Community College, earning an associate degree in the Arts. Following his education, James served with honor in the United States Army as a Military Police (MP) stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. He quickly rose to the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1980. His commitment to service continued with a 32-year career with the Federal Government, where he played a key role in major disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and the 9/11 attacks. Throughout his career, James received numerous awards recognizing his dedication and service to his country. James had a deep passion for cars and motors and enjoyed walking his dog, Grady, whom he often took along to visit and cheer up the elderly in the neighborhood. Known for his talkative and caring nature, James was a person of high integrity and fairness. He was a mentor, a man of faith, and a loving father and grandfather who took pride in celebrating the accomplishments of others. Visitation will be held on September 18, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home, located at 515 Highway 96 West, Shoreview, MN 55126. Flowers may be sent to Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home and should arrive by 2:00 PM on September 18, 2024. A second visitation will take place on September 19, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at North Heights Church, located at 2701 North Rice Street, Roseville, MN 55113, followed by a church service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be served from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and after lunch, a procession to Fort Snelling Cemetery for burial will begin promptly at 12:45 PM. James will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, dedication, and unwavering integrity.
