Jaconda Jacuzzi Hawkins

Jaconda Jacuzzi Hawkins, age 93, of Edina, MN, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2016. She was born to the late Valeriano and Giuseppina Jacuzzi on March 5, 1923. Jaconda is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert W. Hawkins, her daughter, Sharon Anne Lathrop, and her grandson, Zachary Hawkins Kozlowski. She is survived by her son Robert (Ginny) Hawkins of St. Louis Park, MN; daughter Mary (Bob) Moncur of Bloomington, MN; son Patrick (Michele) Hawkins of Plymouth, MN; daughter Elizabeth (Brian Smith) Hawkins of Napa, CA; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends, including her brother Remo Jacuzzi of Little Rock, AR, sister Rachel Bruce of Ontario, Canada, and sister-in-law Rosemary Lanza, Galt, CA. Family was Jaconda’s passion and delight. She was a loyal and loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt (known as “Auntie Grandma” to some), and friend. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from her during her 93 years. She was an excellent cook and loved to have the family over for Italian dinners on Sunday evenings, a tradition now being carried on by her children. Although her recipes have been handed down, the food, including the Jacuzzi crostoli, biscotti, polenta, and spaghetti sauce, never tastes quite the same. Jaconda loved the outdoors and gardening. Many people enjoyed her beautiful flowers, raspberries, and vegetable garden. She also treasured her dogs throughout the years, and she could often be seen taking them on walks through the neighborhood. Jaconda had a very loving and generous heart, and her faith was very important to her. She was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Edina for over 50 years. Jaconda lived next door to the church and opened the doors every morning for mass, as well as serving in many other ways. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 21 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Edina, with visitation one hour prior to the service as well as on Sunday March, 20, from 4-7 PM at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel. A family interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
