Jack Carl Rasmussen

On the morning of October 15, 2023, Heaven gained the amazing soul of Jack Carl Rasmussen. He left this world as peacefully as he lived. Jack was born on October 13, 1952, and he had just celebrated his 71st Birthday! Jack had a full life; from all of his childhood adventures, many with his buddy Blaine, to meeting the love of his life, Cheryl Ann Zimba. Jack & Cheryl married on November 23, 1974. Together they had two children, Little Jack and Colleen. They had a beautiful life together unti Cheryl was called to Heaven at the young age of 46 on February 26, 2003. Jack joined the Marines in 1969 and was very proud of his Service. Following Cheryl's death, Jack reached out for comfort in his many friends, enjoying Harley rides, fishing trips, golfing, cribbage playing, following a band his buddy Jason had a hand in, and firewood-splitting gatherings at his buddy John's house. Jack loved his family and his friends and just the simplicity of being together. Recently, Jack enjoyed weekly golf outings with his buddy Joe, and said he never had a bad day of golf, no matter what the score. He also loved tending to his vegetable garden and was so proud of it! And, he absolutely loved being with family; especially his grandchildren! Jack worked for the Star Tribune for over 32 years, retiring on July 22, 2009. He was very proud of the hard work he did and was very proud to be Teamster. In 2014, Jack met Terri Anderson through his buddy John (who has since passed) and John's girlfriend, Nancy. They finally met in person on May 21, 2015 & have shared an amazing life together since then, enjoying family, friends, fun adventures together, and always dressing up for and cheering on together the Twins, the Vikings & the Wild and they just all around loved being together. They definitely brought happiness to one another! Jack was preceded in death by the love of his life, Cheryl Ann Zimba; his Dad, Carl Owen Rasmussen; and his Mom, Cleo Catherine Beck. Jack is survived by his two children, Jack Joseph Rasmussen and Colleen Ann (James) McGinnis, Granddaughter, Alyssa Ann McGinnis and Grand puppy, Kookie. Jack is also survived by his sister, Gail (Russ) Anacker, Gail's daughter, Melissa Neoma Hesse and Russ' children, Mike (Jamie Radcliff) Anacker and Lisa (Andy) Lindstrom and their child Howard Lindstrom. Jack is also survived by his later in life love, Terri Anderson, and her children, Allen Osberg and Tiffani (Scott) Arras, granddaughter, Natalie Kay Glew, grandson, Walden Scott Glew, and granddaughter, Brooklynn Lee Arras. And, also, by Terri's big family who loved and adored Jack. Jack is also survived by many extended family and friends & he cherished each and every one of you! One could go on and on about the life of Jack. He left an imprint in all of our hearts that never will be forgotten. Live simply, and be kind. That was the way Jack lived. He was such a good man and will be missed deeply and dearly. He is free in the arms of God now. Jack loved his Minnesota Sports Teams and his ball caps, so please feel free to wear your favorite Minnesota Sports attire and favorite ball cap to his service in Jack's honor. Services for Jack will be held at the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home, 1827 Coon Rapids Boulevard, Coon Rapids, MN, 55433 on Friday, October 27, 2023, with visitation at 2 PM and his service at 3 PM. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Monday November 6, 2023 at 12:30 PM. We look forward to seeing you and honoring Jack's memory.
