Huan Van Nguyen

Vincentê Nguyễn Văn Huấn Devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, age 93 of Apple Valley, MN, passed away on Saturday November 1, 2025, All Saints Day. Survived by seven of eight children: Thắng, Vinh (Ninh), Susan Hoan, Hieu, Peter Hiển (Mỹ), Chính, and Quang (Jill); 20 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Nguyễn Thị Thuận, and eldest daughter Nguyễn Ngọc Bích Annette. Born in the village of Hà Hồi, Vietnam, near Hanoi the capital, on October 20, 1932, the eldest of eight children, he embodied courage, loyalty, resilience and gratitude. He had a distinguished civilian military career in Vietnam, leading to a trip to America in 1962 for officer training, with specialization in radio electronics. He worked for both the U.S. Embassy and the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and the entire family was evacuated by the U.S. Air Force during the fall of Saigon. Through the exceptional generosity and sponsorship of three Methodist churches, and in particular three families and one pastor: Kramer, Krinke, Vandermyde, and Pastor Martin Carr, he arrived in Minnesota with his family, as refugees, on September 21, 1975. His accomplishments continued after the family arrived in Minnesota. He took great pride in working for Control Data Corporation for 15 years, where he was recognized with promotions and awards. He capped his career with pride at Seagate, retiring after several years of dedicated service. Besides being a devoted husband and father, our dad poured his heart into serving his parish church community - St. Anne St. Joseph Hien Catholic Church. Our dad and mom modeled and passed down to their children and grandchildren the beauty of the Catholic faith. Together, they were among the handful of pioneering families that founded the Vietnamese Catholic Community in Minnesota. Our dad cherished both his heritages-his Vietnamese roots and his welcoming American home. He tirelessly attended and volunteered for parish community events, and lit up gatherings with his infectious joy. Even the day before he passed, he was on the phone with friends cracking silly jokes, pulling antics, making everyone feel special, his laughter lighting up their lives. His gratitude shone brightest in the silly jokes that sparked laughter, the warm humor that drew hearts closer, and the thoughtful gifts he loved to bestow. Our dad was an inspirational man who will be dearly missed. May our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary intercede on his behalf, welcome our dad into her tender and loving embrace, reunite him with his beloved wife our mom, and present our dad to her son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers and memorials, please consider giving to the community our dad loved most, his beloved faith community of St. Anne-St. Joseph Hiển Church. However, the most important and most precious gifts are your prayers. Thank you. Visitation will be Friday November 14, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens: 5125 W Broadway, Crystal, MN 55429. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday November 15, 2025 at 10 a.m., with a public viewing period from 9-9:45 a.m., at St. Anne-St. Joseph Hiển Church: 2627 Queen Ave. North, Minneapolis, MN 55411 Interment will immediately follow the Funeral Mass to Gethsemane Cemetery: 8151 42nd Ave. N., New Hope, MN 55427
