Howard Francis Linsmeier

Age 78, of Shoreview, MN Passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 8th at Incarnation Lutheran Church, 4880 Hodgson Rd, St Paul, MN 55126. Pastor Rich Omland will be officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 prior to his funeral. Howard was born on June 3, 1939 in New Ulm, MN to Anton and Eleanor (Biebl) Linsmeier. On October 14, 1967, he married the former Kay Annette Pieschke in Arlington, MN. Howard was employed at the Minnesota Highway Department in Arden Hills for 37 years and retired in 2003. Howard loved life and those in his. He enjoyed creating ideas in his mind and then seeing these ideas come to fruition. He had a very good imagination and memory and loved to tinker in his garage and put his talents into machinery, cars, and really anything around the house or mechanical. In short, he could fix anything. He also loved his John Deere tractors. Every year, you could find him at "Machinery Hill" at the fairgrounds browsing through the tractors, wishing and wanting. But most of all, he loved to talk about anything and everything and all the time! He was happiest around people. He was a very caring person and was always concerned about those who were going through a rough patch or hard times. He was always interested in your day or how your family was doing. He mentored many younger people and provided guidance along the way. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to hear jokes and laugh along. His trademark smile brightened many of peoples' day and everyone knew who "Howie" was. He was quick witted and had a contagious zest for life. He was a huge Minnesota sports fan and cheered along with the wins. Finally, he cherished his family and grandkids and loved to have them gather over supper and talk about their day. Of course, jokes and laughter would not be far from the dinner table. He will be greatly missed. Blessed be his memory. Howard is survived by his wife, Kay Linsmeier of Shoreview; two sons, Tony (Chris) Linsmeier of St. Paul, MN and Paul Linsmeier; three grandchildren, Nathan, Hailey and Kayla; his sister, Phyllis Schmidt of Conroe, TX and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Eleanor; his sister, Joleen Linsmeier and his brother, Wilbert Linsmeier.
