Hildred (Kronlokken) Norman

Norman, Hildred Oline (Kronlokken) Born in Sacred Heart, MN June 5, 1932 and passed away at the NC Little Memorial Hospice in Edina on May 13, 2007 at the age of 74. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Mary & Oscar Kronlokken and a brother, Charles. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Franklin C. Norman; her children, Kirsten Robin (husband, Mark) of Prior Lake, MN, Franklin Jr. (wife, Suzy) of Avon, CT; five grandchildren, Jenny, Lindsay & Tom Robin and Nicole & Jack Norman; brothers, Morris & Loren; sister, June; sister-in-law, Bonnie Kronlokken; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born on a farm in Renville County, MN, and attended schools in Sacred Heart, MN. She graduated from Luther College, majoring in Music. She then obtained a Master of Music degree from the University of Michigan music school and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship from the Hochschule for Musik in Hamburg, Germany. She directed choirs & performed as a soloist in many churches. She belonged to a number of musical organizations including Mu Phi Epsilon, Thursday Musical, and Schubert Club. She was a winner in the Great Lakes Regional Metropolitan opera auditions & sang with the Cleveland, Battle Creek, Duluth, and St. Paul Pops orchestras. She also performed with the University of Michigan opera theater, Toledo opera company, and Center opera company. She was a volunteer for a number of organizations including Abbott- Northwestern Auxilliary, Luther College, Mu Phi Epsilon, Thursday Musical, and Normandale Lutheran Church. She performed shows for many clubs, schools, churches & other civic organizations, often with other musical friends, some of whom joined together as the Mad Housewives opera company. In October 2006, she was awarded the Weston Noble award for outstanding vocal performance from Luther College. Funeral Service: Thursday, May 17, 11 AM, at Normandale Lutheran Church, 6100 Normandale Road, Edina. Visitation 1 hour prior. Private interment at Lakewood Cemetery.
