Helen (Weber) Berger (92) formally of North Minneapolis, MN, lived in Elk River, MN. Surrounded by her family she passed peacefully into Heaven to be with the Lord and Fred, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Guardian Angles by the Lake, Assistant Living, in Elk River, MN. Preceded in death by her Husband Fred Berger, Parents, Henry Weber Sr., Mother Margret Weber. Stepmother Margret Weber, Sister Margie Barkosky. Sister-in-Laws Helen Haerle, Eleanor Swanson and Brother-in Laws. Al Hearle and Jerry Swanson and her multiple furry dogs. Survived by Son Mark (Evie) Berger and Daughter Linda (Kelly) Anderson. Granddaughters, Elizbeth Berger and Lydia Anderson. Brothers Allen Weber and Henry (Sheila) Weber. Brother-in Law Bruce Barkosky and her Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many friends. Helen was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 17, 1933. To Henry Weber and Margaret (Hasse) Weber. After her mom's passing when she was 2 ½, she and her father moved to Germany, until she was 5. To be raised by her mom's parents. They left, do the rise of Hitler. (while living in Germany she had to attend a parade that Hitler was in). By age 5 she had crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice by boat. Once she arrived back in the United States they lived in Northeast Minneapolis, were her father married Marget Meyer. Then they moved to North Minneapolis, where Helen graduated from Patrick Henry High School, while in school she started working as a switchboard operated for AT&T and then with General Mills. During this time, she also attended Brown Institute to become a Flight Attendant. Yet, after she completed the schooling, found out she had to be 21 before she could work for the airline. She married Fred Berger on June 4, 1955, and lived in a small apartment in northeast Minneapolis until they bought their first house in 1956, located in North Minneapolis. She quit working at General Mills when Mark was born in 1963 and was a stay home Mom until Linda was in 8th grade. She started working at the Camden Preschool, at Salem Lutheran Church and. continued working after Fred passed in 2002. She retired after 30 years. After, she retired she volunteered reading books to the preschoolers at Earl Brown Elementary School. In 2018 she bought a townhouse, in Elk River and moved in 2021 to an Assisted living apartment at Guadian Angeles by the Lake, in Elk River. Helen enjoyed 52 years at the lake place in Backus., MN. Many years going to Baraboo, Wi. with family for the Circus Museum opening. Fun trips with her son and daughter's families. A wonderful Alaskan cruise with good friends, Jack and Bev Berke. Numerous fantastic trips with her wonderful Sister-in-Law, Sheila Weber. To name a few, Florida, Hawaii and trip to Vegas where her sister-in-law Eleanor Swanson came along with them. She also enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters. Taking them to Como Park Zoo and on the Jonathan Padde boat, ride on the Mississippi, She loved eating radishes sandwiches, chocolate and blended strawberry margaritas. Like her none-acholic Bloody Mary's, because she loved the goodies in them. She also liked to dip her pretzels in her grandpa's beer at Foresights bar, in Northeast Minneapolis, when she was a child and walked him home from the bar. She is collecting many things. Hallmark houses, Dolls, Salt & Peper shakers and Circus memorabilia, to name just a few. She enjoyed attending car shows, with her family, which included Back to the Fifties that she attended into her 80's. Member of the Chevy and GMC Truck Club of Minnesota. Helen was adventurous, crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice, flew numerus times even over the ocean to Hawaii, even stood outside on her Alaska cruise during a storm, but would never get on Mark's motorcycles. She was a kind and wonderful person. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and friend. Who will truly be missed.
