Harry Sweere

Sweere Harry C. Sweere, age 70, of Mpls., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 8, 2005 after battling cancer for six years. Harry is survived by his wife Jan of 45 years; four children and seven grandchildren, Mark (Br. Anthony Sweere, fbp, of the Franciscan Brothers of Peace); Char (Dave - Jenna and Eden Nelson; Jim (Pam - Laura and Sam) Sweere and Carol (Tim - Kelsey, Micaela and Jacob) Hager. Harry is also survived by siblings Ted (Joanne - sister of Jan) Sweere, Dr. Ed (Cathy) Sweere; Veronica Chatterton; Dr. Joe (Mary) Sweere; Dave (Tamara) Sweere; his brother-in-law Dennis (Shirley) Stollenwerk; foster brother, Bill (Betty) Meulepas and many nieces and nephews. Harry and his wife Jan are the owners of Ergotron, Inc., of Eagan, MN, established in 1982. Harry's entrepreneurial spirit grew his business from the basement of his home to its current status as an internationally recognized company (with close to 250 employees) that designs and markets ergonomic computer mounting solutions. Harry holds 42 patents and was always most happy working with his hands, developing opportunities through his work for countless people, seeing it all as a way to bring the light of Jesus Christ to others, creating a truly unique, loving and respectful work environment for his employees and co-workers. He always had a special place in his heart for the Ergotron family, as well as for all of the many close friendships he had made and enjoyed during his professional career at Sperry Univac, Northwest Airlines and other corporations since his earliest days in business. Harry and Jan have been members of People of Praise charismatic prayer community in the Twin Cities for 25 years. The evangelization of youth became a very important goal of Harry's life during this time. He leaves behind many dear friends, but of course we believe these friendships will never end. Harry and Jan had been members of St. Kevin's Catholic Church in south Minneapolis for many years and took the merger of St. Kevin's and Resurrection parish into the newly-formed Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, where they have been faithful parishioners to this day. The many friendships, old and new, both at church and in the neighborhood, have been a tremendous blessing over the years. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 15th, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 5425 11th Ave. S., Minneapolis, on the corner of E. 54th St. and 11th Ave. S. Visitation one hour prior to Mass and Thursday, April 14th, 4-9 PM, with prayer service at 7:00 PM, all at the church. No flowers requested. Memorials may be made to the Franciscan Brothers of Peace in St. Paul, Trinity School River Ridge Scholarship Fund in Bloomington, Our Lady of Peace "Support a Student" Fund in Minneapolis, Cradle of Hope and Pro-Life Across America.
