Grace Marsh Dow

Grace Marsh Dow (née Calvin) passed away peacefully at her home in Edina, Minnesota, on January 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 16, 1929, in Toronto, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Collamer Chipman Calvin and Isobel Mooers Calvin, originally of Kingston, Ontario. Grace was married to Peter Bremner for 25 years and to Harvey O. Dow for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey O. Dow of Minneapolis, and is survived by her first husband, Peter Bremner of Washburn, Wisconsin. Grace will be forever cherished by her children: Dr. Wendy Graham (Sandy)Virginia "Ginny" Bacon (Bill)Tim Bremner (Debra)Cynthia Hibbs "Cyndie" (Jonathan)Geoff Bremner (Kristi) She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren-all of whom she adored. Grace is further survived by her loving sister, Betsy Esson, who resides in Toronto, and was preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert Calvin of Toronto and Bill Calvin of Vancouver. A gifted and accomplished artist, Grace studied at the University of Toronto to become a medical illustrator and contributed her talents as a contributing artist to Grant's Atlas of Anatomy. Later in life, she embraced a second career in real estate, working first for Harvey Hanson Realty and later for Edina Realty, both in Edina, Minnesota, where over more than 20 years she formed many lasting friendships and enriched the lives of her clients. Grace had a deep love for music, especially ragtime piano and Dixieland jazz, which enriched her life. She also cherished the outdoors, spending treasured moments at her beloved island cottage on the Upper French River near North Bay, Ontario. A lifelong animal lover, she adored her dogs and continued to enjoy playing bridge well into her later years. A celebration for Grace will be held at Washburn-McReavy, in Edina, MN on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10am with memorial service at 11am, followed by a light lunch. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the local animal shelter of your choice in Grace's honour. Grace was one of the most giving, caring, and kind individuals one could have the privilege of knowing. Her unwavering dedication to her family, deep appreciation for tradition, and the boundless love she shared with everyone around her will forever be remembered. Grace's legacy of love, generosity, and artistry will live on through her family, her art, her music, and the countless lives she touched.
