Gloria (Bliss) LeBuhn

LeBuhn, Gloria Bliss October 6, 1929 - November 22, 2015 Poway---Born in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of J.J. (Jerry) and Katherine Bliss is survived by, Paul, her husband of 54 years, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and brothers, Robert and Gerald, preceded her in death. Gloria was a graduate of the Minneapolis Public School System and attended the University of Minnesota. Gloria did not meet the minimum height requirements to be a flight attendant and became a ticket agent for an airline and worked for travel agencies. She developed a life-long love of travel and people while working in the travel industry. Gloria married Paul in 1961 and they established their residence in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her interest in airline ticketing and travel agencies was replaced with her interest in the Bliss family genealogy, which she traced through twelve generations to the arrival of her direct ancestors in America in 1638. Gloria, while researching her English ancestors, became an honorary member of the Bliss Genealogy Society of England and regularly attended their annual meetings in the United Kingdom developing close relationships with many of her distant relatives. Gloria never lost her love of people and an excitement for travel. Throughout married life, both before and after moving to their home in Poway, CA in 1988, she and Paul traveled frequently throughout the world. Gloria's love of animals, especially her dogs, was well known to her friends. She became an ardent supporter of the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, participating in many zoo projects and joined expeditions to observe animals in their natural habitat. Gloria's vibrant and outgoing personality was contagious and contributed to her natural ability to make the world a better place. She will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to The San Diego Zoo, P.O. Box 120271, San Diego, CA 92112-0271, Attention: Development Department. Funeral Services will be held at the Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, 5000 West 50th St., Edina, MN 55436 on December 8th at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
