Gertrude Ann Lahay

Gertrude Ann Lahay (Gole) passed peacefully on Tuesday May 9th, 2023 surrounded by the love of her devoted family. Born June 24, 1934, in Chisholm, MN, to Grenville and Lillian Gole. Gert passed at 88 years old, believing she had lived a very fortunate life! Gert, as she was called by her many friends was a force of nature! Her positive, fun-loving personality was magnetic! Her love for cooking and entertaining, gathered many into her cozy home and at her kitchen table. A graduate of Chisholm H. S. and a graduate of the Minneapolis School of Business she was working downtown as an X-Ray tech for Dr. Michaelson where she would meet the love of her life, Robert Lahay of Virginia, Minnesota. Bob, a business graduate of St. Thomas was a great family provider over the years. Happily raising their family in Roseville, MN for 34 years. Bob's first priority was making his beloved Gerts happy. Together for 64 years, calling her his "bride", until his death in 2018. Gert was proud of the real estate license that she received in 1977 when she began her successful 17 year run working first for Century 21 and later for Edina Realty. Her love for houses, décor and being a natural with people made this career a perfect choice for her. Enjoying a variety of experiences throughout her life with Bob and family included travel, camping, skiing, snowmobiling, boating, swimming and wintering in Florida. The Lake Superior region was always their favorite travel destination with their RV. Mesmerized by crashing waves, annual camping close to the shore was their joy! In her later years, winter visits to Palm Springs and summer visits to family cabins "Up North", her happy distractions. Spending time with her adult kids, the Grands and Great Grands who so loved their Grams, or their "GeGe", brought her much pleasure up to her final days. Preceded in death by husband Robert Lahay (86) and daughter Jane Gorden (58). Survived by son Jeff Lahay, daughter Laurel McGinnity and husband Patrick, daughter Patti Miesen and husband Bob, beloved grand kids, Shaun (Emily), Katie (Todd), Shannon (Brock), Shea (Sarah), Dean, Beth (Aaron), 13 great Grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close family friends. Celebration of Life service at Roselawn Chapel, Roselawn Cemetery, 803 West Larpenteur Ave, in Roseville, MN on Thursday, June 8, 2023. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM, service at noon with luncheon to follow. Special Thank You to the wonderful care giving staff at Cardigan Ridge in Little Canada where Gert spent her final 2 years of life being nurtured and well loved. A big note of thanks to the dedicated care team from St. Croix hospice who were so amazing!
