Jerry Rosovitz

Gerald M. (Jerry) Rosovitz, age 82 of Minnetonka, MN passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on November 6th, 2024. Jerry grew up in Youngstown, OH and was the eldest of three children. Jerry attended John Carroll University in Cleveland, OH, where he earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and met the love of his life, Carol, at a nearby women's college (Notre Dame). They fast became sweethearts and married one week after graduation. Jerry was hired right out of college and began a career at IBM that lasted over 25 years before retirement. It was the start of his life-long love for technology, problem solving, and figuring out how electronics work. IBM moved Jerry several times with the longest stops in Cleveland and Detroit before Jerry and Carol moved to Minnesota where they raised their three children Janet, Robert (Bob) and Mary Jo (MJ). Jerry was always generous in sharing his expertise in electronics and computers with family and friends with projects ranging from building the family's first TV in early years to solving problems with personal computers in later ones. His technical expertise was also valuable in his post-IBM work life as part of the IT group at American Family Insurance. His favorite place in the world was on a lake fishing with his wife, kids, grandkids, or other fishing buddies. Even better if it was a bass lake and they were biting! He outfitted his boat for fishing in small nearby lakes, keeping statistics of the lakes and catch counts. He also loved the great outdoors and looked forward to deer hunting every year with his son Bob and his friends. Jerry had a wonderful sense of humor, and always had a joke or funny story to share. We will miss his wit, smiles, and joyful laughter. While he chose to stop oil painting in early adulthood, we will always treasure the beautiful landscapes and seascapes that he left us. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 60 years, Carol; his three children Janet (Scott) Swedal, Robert (Diane) Rosovitz, Mary Jo Rosovitz; grandchildren Nicholas and Carter Swedal; sister Patricia, brother Joseph, and many relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 3:30 - 7:00 pm on Monday, November 18th at Washburn McReavy Eden Prairie Chapel, 7625 Mitchell Road, Eden Prairie, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 19th at 11:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (IHM), 13505 Excelsior Blvd, Minnetonka, MN. The service will be livestreamed at: https://www.youtube.com/@immaculateheartofmarycatho3545/streams Visitation will also be at the church one hour prior to Mass.
