Gerald "Jerry" "Butch" Wedin

Wedin Gerald H. "Jerry" or "Butch" Wedin, age 64, of Big Lake, MN, and Green Valley, AZ (formerly of Plymouth, MN). 3/6/39 - 9/17/03. Jerry is missed as a devoted husband and best friend to Carol and as a special friend and playmate to his Westies, Mitzi and Molly. He was a loving father to John (Karen) of Chanhassen; and proud grandfather to Alyssa and Courtney Wedin, Dustin Doyle and Dan Gray. He is also deeply missed by his siblings whom he loved dearly, Liz Pugsley (Tom Netherton), Pat (Tom) Cooke, Janet (Ron) Gilbertson, Barbara Cappelletti, Helen (Frank) Yates, Jim (Arline), Larry (Mickey), Katie (Jim) Livingston, Marleen (Dave) Hood. He also leaves sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Judy & Jim Fisher and Kris & Marlin White; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends. Jerry was a kind and giving man who expressed gratitude to God for his many blessings by volunteering through his church and in his communities. He grew up in NE Mpls., graduating in Edison's Class of `57. He received his degree in education from Mankato State College and while teaching in the Osseo School System he received his Master's degree from St. Cloud State Univ. Jerry touched many lives during the 34 years he taught 7th grade social studies at Osseo Jr. High where he coached cross country as well. He was also a Realtor for 15+ years working with Carol at Counselor and Edina Realty. He lived and loved life to the fullest keeping busy and fit playing tennis, golfing, bike riding & square dancing. He also enjoyed his docent work at the Titan Missile site in Green Valley. Jer was first admitted to the hospital 6/13 with a mysterious brain ailment. On 8/2 a setback put him back in the hospital where he remained until God called him. His brain disease remains a mystery to the most renowned neuropathologists in the state. His family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the prayers and support of countless friends and to the outstanding staff of health care professionals at North Memorial Medical Center where he received exceptional care and loving attention. In lieu of flowers, Jerry would be pleased to have memorials directed to: Jerry Wedin Scholarship Fund through Osseo District 279, 11200 - 93rd Ave N., Maple Grove, MN 55369; or memorials to donor's choice. Ecumenical Memorial Mass with Christ English Lutheran Church, will be held Saturday 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 36th & Boone Ave., New Hope. Visitation 5-8 PM Friday, with prayer service 7 PM at: Washburn-McReavy Robbinsdale Chapel 4239 West Broadway 763-537-2333
