George Hollis Rosenquist Jr.

Rosenquist, George Hollis, Jr. of Minneapolis, age 68. His journey on earth ended November 11, 2013. Diagnosed in 1979 with Multiple Sclerosis, he began a pilgrimage that taught those around him of resilience, strength, stubbornness, faith, gratitude and most importantly, grace. An active member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, his trust in God and the mindset that he was on the path he was meant to be was inspiring to all who met him. Survived by son, John of Ft. Worth, TX; twin sister, Sue (Robert) Rofidal; many nieces and nephews; in particular, nephews, Christopher (Dawn) Rofidal and Kevin (Kenna) Rofidal; nieces, Karin (Todd) Miller and Lindsay Rofidal. Blessed to grace his heart as well, grand nieces Sophie, Alex, Anna, Kate and Lucy; grand nephew and namesake, George. Preceded in death by parents, George and Iris Rosenquist; sister, Nancy Lemon. George counted his blessings daily that he was able to travel the world. Having been to Europe 26 times, and setting feet down on every continent in the world, he also relished hosting a 17 person family trip to Disney World 3 years ago. A 1963 graduate of Washburn High School he worked in his family marine shop while in college. That same year he enlisted in the Army National Guard. After the military he fueled his love of travel by working for various airlines and travel agencies, launching G. Hollis Travel and Host Minnesota. George continued to stay active in many downtown organizations including the Downtown Council and engrossed himself in his love of fine art, music and all things Minneapolis. Deep gratitude to George's friends at The Crossings. Your love and care for him was immeasurable. He was an inspiration to all and a daily reminder to fill your thoughts with thankfulness and gratitude for what you DO have as opposed to what you don't. We could all be so blessed to share his outlook on life. Memorial service 12 noon Monday, Nov. 18, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave S., Mpls. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church Elevator Fund.
