George Eugene Hurley

George E. Hurley Age 91, of Anoka, passed away March 12, 2026. In loving memory of our father. Born January 4, 1935, in Minneapolis to George I. and Alice A. Hurley. George proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years aboard the USS Arcadia. During his service, he worked as a Radioman, an essential communications specialist responsible for transmitting, receiving, and processing voice and data signals via radio, Morse code, and teletype aboard ships. George worked for Erickson Corporation as a Cost Accountant and then later worked for many years as a salesman at Creative Carton in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, where he later retired. George loved spending time with his family, especially at the family cabin in Pine City, Minnesota, where countless cherished memories were made. Family gatherings often included boating and tubing down the Snake River. He loved snowmobiling and pulling the kids behind with a toboggan, and the children and grandchildren laughed until they cried when they fell off. Playing games and shooting BB guns were constant favorites. George also enjoyed playing cribbage and the card game 500, reading books, and staying active. He strongly believed in maintaining good health and walked for over an hour each day up until recently. Survived by children Lori Comp, Todd (Mea) Hurley, Mark Hurley, Scott (Tammy) Hurley, and Jodi (Randy) Baker; grandchildren Tony (Jinelle) Comp, Preston Comp, Sydney (Chris) Snider, Mija Hurley, Jake Hurley, Ryan Hurley, Kyle Hurley, Cynthia Odens, and Carolyn Odens; great-grandchildren Elsie, Vivian, Vincent "Vinny," and Benson "Benny" Comp; sister Joan (Dan) Rudolph; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceded in death by parents George I. and Alice A. Hurley; and siblings Dale (Beverly), Pat, and Donna Mae; and son-in-law, Jerry Comp. Visitation Monday, March 23, 2026, from 5-7 PM at Washburn-McReavy Robbinsdale Chapel, 4239 West Broadway. Memorial service is Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 11 AM with visitation beginning at 10 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, 4512 France Ave N., Robbinsdale, MN. Luncheon will follow the service. Private family interment. George will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
