Gaylen Charles Class

Gaylen Class, 89, of Bloomington, MN passed away peacefully on January 15, 2024. Gaylen grew up in Evan, MN. After graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College, he served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955 - 1957. He worked the majority of his career as a product manager for Abbott-Northwestern Hospital. Throughout his life, he loved spending time with his wife, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends. For Gaylen, family was everything. He was always there no matter the event, whether it was a recital, game, graduation, birthday, he was a constant presence that brought comfort and light. Gaylen was also a crafty man, he could build, paint, or put together whatever you needed- even nesting boxes for a henhouse at the age of 86. One of his greatest gifts though was his wisdom. His knowledge was vast from him telling stories about growing up on the farm, to talking about his time in the air force, and showing how to do a proper bigfoot call. Though he possessed many wise words, he was truly young at heart. He loved to sing, make silly voices, and collect the funniest toys. If it was a smile or laugh you needed, Gaylen was the man for the job. He will always be remembered, loved, and cherished. Gaylen Class was preceded in death by his parents Julius and Gladys (Christensen) Class, his sister Blanche (Class) Lindemann, and his first wife Marian (Heidemann) Class. He is survived by his wife Judy (Borchert) Class, his daughters Pam Winkler, Shelle (Mark) Prairie, Lisa (Dave) Hanson, his grandchildren Sara (Daniel) Huddleston, Joseph (Jenna) Winkler, Jacob (Brittney) Winkler, Molly (Mike) Gulden-Prairie, Rachel (Ben) Prairie, Amy Prairie, Kaitlin (Noah) Hanson, and Makenzie (Lucas) Hanson and his great grandchildren, "The Greats", Neil and Jaxon Huddleston, Wyatt, Haley, Ava, and Lyla Winkler, Wyatt and Brooke Winkler, Henrik Gulden-Prairie, Emmie Hanson-Davies, and Berkley Leikam. Please join us to celebrate Gaylen's life on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Bloomington Lutheran Church, 9350 Portland Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN 55420. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and service to celebrate his life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Luncheon will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Bloomington Lutheran Church. A burial service, with military honors, will be done at Fort Snelling on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 1:45p.m. Please consider donating in Gaylen's honor to the American Kidney Foundation.
