Gail Ann Maxwell

Gail Ann (Curtis) Maxwell Age 72 of St. Paul, MN is with the angels now. She was born in Ortonville, Minnesota, on November 3, 1946. Gail is the daughter of Clarence Curtis and Florence (Carlson) Curtis, Hynnek. She grew up in Ortonville and graduated from Ortonville High School in 1964. Gail went on to graduate from University of Minnesota, Morris Campus, with a degree in Home Economics. Gail became a public school teacher for several years. Subsequently, she went on to become an accomplished interior decorator. Gail married Stephen L. Maxwell III on September 27, 1969, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. To this union a beautiful baby girl, Arianne K. Maxwell, was born on December 2, 1977 to whom she dearly loved. After the tragic passing of her husband on August 7, 1986, Gail moved back to Ortonville. She later became a community reporter for the Ortonville Independent newspaper, writing about the happenings of Ortonville and the surrounding areas. She had a passion for sewing, quilting, crocheting, and needle work. Gail was also a remarkable painter with watercolors and loved painting landscapes. This beloved mother's favorite flower was the iris. She loved the Home and Garden channel and appreciated how they transformed houses into beautiful homes. Gail was a beautiful woman on the inside and out. She was a quiet leader with a sweet disposition, infectious kindness, and a loving heart for all. Gail's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She would always have a bright smile while praying the rosary. She was clutching her rosary as she passed on January 22, 2019, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Arianne K. Maxwell (Matt); sister, Linda (John) Sovell; niece, Michele (Brian) Boehmer; nephews, Michael (Emily) and Jon Jon (Carissa) Sovell; and several grand nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stephen(1986); parents, Clarence and Florence Curtis; step-father, Don Hynnek; and brother, Don Hynnek, Jr. A Celebration of Life will take place at Episcopal Church Homes in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on January 30, 2019, at 2:00 pm in the Leigh Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at her beloved church, Saint John's Catholic Church, in Ortonville, Minnesota, on February 15, 2019, with the gathering taking place at 10:00 am to be followed by the Mass. Her final resting place will be at the Mound Cemetery in Ortonville, Minnesota.
