Gail (Driscoll) Weems

Loving and Beloved, wife, mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma Gail ("Triple G") and friend Born 4/22/36 in Dearborn, MI, died on 3/29/11 at her home in Fridley, MN, after a short but valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by the love of family and friends, secure in her salvation through her savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by husband of 48 years, Jack; parents Ed and Emma Driscoll; infant grandson Bobby Weems; and younger brother Frank Driscoll. Survived by children Dr. Martin (Kathy), Mark (Maribeth), Darice, Marshall (Julie), and Dara (Greg) Leonardis; grandchildren Stephanie (Michael) Baker, Carissa (Tony) Nielsen, Thomas, Harrison, Charles, Ryan, Kathryn, Adam and Angela Weems, Andrew, Collin, and Dmitri Leonardis; great grandson Edward Jack Nielsen; sister-in-law Ann Driscoll; nieces and nephews Sherry Wingrove, Eric, Brian, Sheila and Matthew Driscoll, Monica Rameriz, Susan Giblin, Tom Henry and Gigi Ashley; former daughter-in-law Roberta; Maribeth's sons Michael and Zach, as well as countless friends. Throughout her life, Gail/Mom/ Grandma/Triple G exhibited love, caring, forgiveness, compassion, determination and grace under any pressure, traits that were inspirational to so many. Her warm smile and sincere hugs were constant comforts to all who met her. An eternal optimist due to the promise of her faith, she always found something good in others. Mom was ever a servant, anxious to help others while rarely ever thinking of her own needs, whether being a den mother, hockey mom, church member or in her prison ministries. Music was an enormous delight in her life. She loved the simple times sitting at our cabin in Cotton, surrounded by family and friends. Cooking meals for 30 or more was child's play for her and she loved doing the dishes afterwards. She took her God-given gifts and utilized them to their fullest. Gail was a 30+ year employee of Target, much of it as a supervisor in the corporate payroll department (and all without a college degree!). Although gone from our physical presence, she will never leave our thoughts and hearts. She set the bar high. Our family wishes to thank Drs. John Dryer, Amy Stella, Patrick Kraft, and Kurt Nisi as well as the phenomenal team from North Hospice for their wonderful, compassionate care. Also, infinite thanks to the many friends who helped care for Mom during her last 2 months! Your assistance allowed us to keep our promise to her to be able to live out her remaining days at home, which she and Dad had built 50 years ago. Rest well and enjoy your reunion with those loved ones waiting for you: no one deserves it more.
