Father Francis Richard Kittock

Kittock, Father Francis R. Died May 21, 2020. He was born December 2, 1929 in Waverly, MN and raised on the family farm in Delano. He was the son of Constantine and Monica (Ramola) Kittock. With the guidance of Father Andrew Handzel, pastor of St. Joseph's in Delano, he entered Nazareth Hall preparatory seminary in 1943. Ordained a priest on May 30, 1955, he served as: Associate Pastor at St. Kevin, Professor and Dean of Students at Nazareth Hall (1959-70), Administrator Guardian Angels, Oakdale and St. Hedwig's in Minneapolis, Field Supervisor for the seminary Deacon program (1970-72). In 1966, he received a Masters in Education from the College of St. Thomas. He served as Pastor of St. Charles Borromeo in St. Anthony Village from 1973 until his retirement in 2000. In retirement he served as Assistant Director of the Office of Priestly Life and Ministry and consultant for the Archdiocese. Fr. Kittock was a visionary with far reaching influence. Noted for his leadership as a parish priest, he was an effective administrator and advocate for Catholic education. He valued formation in all areas of parish life and designed programs to strengthen the faith and spiritual growth of the laity. Having great insight into human nature, he had a wealth of pastoral wisdom and served as a mentor to many young priests. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Len Sargent, and grandnephew Justin Sargent. He is survived by brothers Alfred (Annette), Rick (Claudia), and sister Monica Kittock-Sargent, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Paul Seminary, 2260 Summit Avenue St. Paul, MN 55105 or Little Sisters of the Poor, 330 Exchange Street South, St. Paul, MN 55102.
