Francis Adolph Caron

New Brighton, Minnesota - Francis Caron was born in Watersmeet, Michigan August 19, 1932. One of seven children born of Albert J, and Matilda Caron. He was affectionately known as Benigh by his siblings into his adult life because that was how his sister pronounced baby. He graduated high school and went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in physics at Michigan Technical University. Upon graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army for two years and worked as a radio operator. After that, he began his career as a math teacher and later, wanting a better living to support his family, he received training through the GI bill to become an engineer writer. Francis was married to Barbara Suzanne Coburn on June 17, 1961. His career brought him along with his wife and first child to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and then Fridley, Minnesota where he pursued his career as an engineer writer for Control Data Corporation. That career, along with frugal living, afforded him the ability to raise 4 children, retire at the age of 55, and travel to Hawaii with Barbara during the winter for many years. He enjoyed gardening, reading the newspaper from front to back, and maintaining their home in Fridley until November 2023 when they moved into Brightondale Senior Living. Francis died peacefully in his bed surrounded by family, on December 16, 2025. He was preceded in his death by his wife Barbara, his parents, Albert and Matilda, and siblings, Mildred Riddle (Jack), Grace Warax (Tom), James Caron (Mary Ann), Edward Caron, Howard Caron (Bonnie), and Marilyn Jones (Larry) He is survived by his children Michael Caron (Michelle), Nicolette Caron-Graham (Glenn), Christopher Caron, Gregory Caron (Melanie), grandchildren Justen (Hallee), Adam, Madeline, Jack, Marissa (Dayne) great-grand-children Kirby, Joni, Remington, Jameson, and Viveinne, sister-in-law, Carolyn Caron, and many nieces and nephews. Francis infamously hated funerals and explicitly expressed not to have one. Memories can be shared on the guest page of the online obituary. Perhaps in the future, as Francis reunites with the family who preceded him in death, we may have a family reunion of the living to share memories of all in person.
