Florence "Moxie" Fick Moxham

Florence “Moxie” Fick Moxham was born August 11, 1919 in Lake City, MN where she graduated from high school. She was married in 1940 and had two daughters, Dawn Brodmarkle Williams and Bette (Duke) McNeil. She is survived by grandchildren, Jill Brodmarkle of Brainerd, Jerry (Karen) Brodmarkle of New Mexico, Holly (Donald) Cervin of Alaska, Harry (Linda) Brodmarkle of Brainerd, Heidi Brodmarkle-Brun (Erik) of Arkansas and Michael (Crystal) Miller of Pennsylvania; along with 18 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Milton Fick and Robert Fick; and grandson, Edwin Brodmarkle. Florence was a remarkable woman and loved by many. She raised her two girls as a single Mom, making a career in property management with Warner Holding Company after moving to Minneapolis in 1953. Moxie was a very active member of the Girl Scouts for over 60 years. She was a troop leader, delegate to the National Convention, staff member of the Senior Primitive Encampment, directed Senior Primitive at Elk River, and received the “Thanks Badge 1 and 2”, to name just a few. In 2012 she was chosen as one of 100 Girl Scout alumnae to be honored at a gala celebration at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Moxie was active with the Twin Cities Presbytery for years. For the past ten years she was a member of Valley Presbyterian Church active in many groups and enjoyed many friends. She loved to travel and visited many European countries over the years. She also enjoyed trips to Mexico with her daughters in the latter years. Her love of shopping, kept her a “fashionista”, most especially for her age. Moxie lived 94 good and healthy years and passed away May 27th at home, which was her wish. She was cared for by her two daughters and hospice. She will be missed more than anyone could ever imagine. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on June 13, 2014 at Valley Presbyterian Church, 3100 Lilac Dr., N. in Golden Valley, MN, with visitation preceding the service at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to celebrate Mom’s life and visit over luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
