Evelyn Beatrice Radke Born May 31, 1929, Minneapolis, MN Called to Heaven on February 17, 2023 at the age of 93 Evie "Minnie" was one of a kind. She loved being around people more than anything else. If you were trying to reach her by phone, there was a strong possibility her phone line had a busy signal, or (if you were lucky to get through) she was on her way out the door. Evie often visited her friends and family with a trunk full of treats, groceries, and useful items that she regularly delivered along with her company. She was never empty handed, seeked to help others, and cared for loved ones! Evie, was known as the "Hostess with the Mostest" with loyalty and longevity in the Minneapolis restaurant scene and continued to work until she was 85 yrs when macular degeneration took away her ability to drive. Evie was recognized nationally along with piano player Lou Snyder and the World's Most Dangerous Polka Band when Nye's was awarded Best Bar in America by Esquire magazine in 2006 and featured on Good Morning America. She loved the relationships built with patrons who became lifelong friends. She was intentional in her giving to others. She embodied that best trait in people who live to serve others. She was a voracious card player. But it was just another excuse to gather people, laugh and enjoy others' company over a cup of coffee or a Coke and a game of 21-31. Evie was always a classy lady and dressed to impress with her long dangling earrings, big hair, and always clothed in a shade of Black, White, or Red. Evie was adored by all who knew her. She was gracious, generous, selfless, and compassionate. She was always a great listener. She genuinely cared about people and to know them. We were so blessed to be loved by her, and to know her example...Everyone was "family" to Evie. Her family likened her to the Good Samaritan. Her faith in Jesus was strong and she knew she was going to Heaven and looked forward to the day Jesus would take her home to be with Him. Preceded in death by husband Curtis, her father Jesse James Griffin, mother Milena "Millie" sister Beulah, brothers Robert "Bud", Eugene, Cleo, Clyde and Raymond. Survived by Daughter Margo (Chuck) Kraft, Granddaughters Laura (Scott)Trish and Carissa Marsh. Great-Grandchildren John, Madison and Mason Special lifelong friend and sister-in-law Jeanette, Stepson David Radke, as well as many nieces and nephews and friends who had a special place in her heart!
