Eugene T Lundquist

Age 68 of St. Paul Born on Feb. 20, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, and died on July 15, 2015, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Nancy Lundquist, and two brothers-in-law, James Anderson and James Spickelmier. He is survived by three sisters Carole Spickelmier, Jill Anderson Jezierski (Dennis), Susan Robinson (Torrey); niece Jennifer Passey (Michael); six nephews Eric Spickelmier (Anna), Grant Spickelmier (Jennifer), Mark Spickelmier (Jessica Madole), Michael Anderson (Kim), Carey Robinson (Lindsay), Carl Robinson (fiancé Joanna Raymund); aunt Erma Lundquist; five cousins Peter Lundquist (Susan), Connie Vidal (Stan), Shirley Chesterman (Ken), Tom Dobesh (Gloria), Nancy Curtis (Rick); and many grand-nieces and nephews. As a toddler Gene contracted meningitis which left him with multiple physical difficulties but which he handled with an uncomplaining attitude. At age six he moved with his family to St. Paul, Minnesota, when his father became president of Bethel College and Seminary (now Bethel University). He graduated from Alexander Ramsey High School where he sang bass in the concert choir. He held a variety of jobs, the longest of which was in assembly at the Arden Fastener Company. He was a talented photographer and took many fine pictures of city skylines and interesting buildings. Gene was a caring person who had a good sense of humor and enjoyed jokes and funny stories. He served for several years as president of the Third Floor Resident Council at Maplewood Care Center where he lived for six years. He had many good friends among the residents. Thank you to the MCC staff for their wonderful care of Gene, particularly Chris, Ardette, Jodie, Aschalew, Alphonse and many others. They truly made him feel "at home" there. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 21st at 11:00 AM at HOLCOMB-HENRY-BOOM-PURCELL FUNERAL HOME; 515 W. Hwy 96 at Mackubin in Shoreview. Visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Third Floor Resident Council, Maplewood Care Center, 1900 E. Sherren Ave., Maplewood, MN 55109.
