Ethel Neumann

Neumann Ethel Martha Neumann, February 22, 1909 - September 19, 2003. Ethel passed away peacefully at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River, MN at the age of 94. Ethel graduated from North High School in 1927 and attended Northwestern Bible School. She was a devout Christian and gave her heart to the Lord at the age of 18 when she worked in a temporary job at a bookstore in downtown Mpls. Ethel was retired after working 40 years doing bookkeeping at Sears Roebuck Co. on Lake St. in Mpls. Ethel taught Sunday School and played piano for many years at St. John's Church and at Trinity Independent Church in N Mpls. She read the Bible daily, folded Christian tracts and was a devoted supporter of numerous Christian organizations and missionaries over the years. She volunteered her time at Christian Workers Mission and a Christian bookstore in S Mpls, cataloging new books. Ethel also enjoyed playing piano and mandolin with a Christian band that played once a week at the Christian Workers Mission and also in churches and nursing homes in NE Mpls. Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, Rose Wolff & Eugene Neumann; and brother-in-law, Richard Palmer of Elk River. She is survived by her sister, Nona Neumann Palmer of Elk River; nephews, Robert Palmer (Nancy) of Mounds View, Ronald Palmer (Susan) of Mpls, and Chuck Palmer (friend Janice Katnis) of Anoka; nieces, Carol Palmer Nugent (Dennis) of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Julie Palmer Cummins (Doug) of Hile City, MN; numerous great-nephews and nieces. The family is especially grateful for care provided by Elim Home Care in Elk River as this allowed Ethel to live independently and remain in her apartment for the past 2 years. Also to nurses and aides at Guardian Angel Care Center in Elk River and to the volunteers at Fairview Hospice for their tenderness and love in helping to make Ethel comfortable in her last days. Services were held at Faith Baptist Church in N Mpls on Sept. 23rd, with burial following at Crystal Lake Cemetery. She will be forever in our hearts. Washburn-McReavy Swanson chapel 612-529-9691
