Lewandowski, Ervin Daniel age 90 of Coon Rapids, passed away on Sunday, March 24th, 2024. Ervin was a loving, dedicated, and faithful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family dearly. He is survived by his wife Carol of 62 years, sons David, Philip, Jeffrey, and Jeremy (Kristin) Lewandowski. Daughters Kathryn Gargano and Theresa (John) Muscovitz. Grand- children Michelle (Bryan) Hamann, Adam Muscovitz, Kaitlyn Hauck, Justin, Henry, Anna, and Grace Lewandowski. Great grandchildren Maxine Hauck, and Evelynn, Josephine, Vivienne, and Theodore Hamann. Sister Wanda Anderson. Many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial at Epiphany Catholic Church, 11001 Hanson Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, on Friday, April 5th at 10:30 AM. Visitation on Thursday, April 4th, 4-8 PM at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd and one hour before service at church. Military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with the family at a later date. He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Magdalene and brothers, Sylvester, Walter, identical twin brother Ernest, infant twin brothers, and sisters Sally, Clara, Irene, and Rita. Born October 17, 1933 to Bernard and Magdalene (Plocharz) in Gilman, MN. Ervin grew up on the family farm and after graduating from high school, enlisted in the United States Marines. He served three years in the Marines first as an MP in Puerto Rico before a 22 month deployment in Korea. He earned the Distinguished Service Medal and Good Conduct Service Medal, Meritorious Sergeant and platoon leader, and recognition and several medals from the South Korean government including an Ambassador for Peace award. Ervin dedicated his time to numerous veterans organizations. He was a member of MN Korean War Vets Chapter 1 where he was their First Vice President, Kraus Hartig VFW where he was a member of their honor guard for many years, 70 year member of the American Legion, Metro Marines, instrumental in forming the Honor Guard at Epiphany Catholic Church, A.M. Vets of Florida and a member of the Anoka Veterans council. Ervin worked at May Brothers for over 39 years never missing a day of work. A long time active member of Epiphany Catholic Church, Ervin was a Eucharistic minister and usher. The family wishes to thank the staff of caregivers at Park River Estates who showed love, compassion and kindness to Ervin and his family and became our family. Thank you to the team from Adara for their in-home health care and support to Ervin at home.
